Purchase a vintage bracelet with beads, gems and rhinestones. Genuine vintage bracelets can be found at flea markets and garage sales. Copies of vintage bracelets are often found at clothing boutiques and accessory shops.

Measure your waist or the area just under the breastbone to determine the length of the belt. Add 15 to 20 inches to the circumference of your torso to allow plenty of room for the bow in the back.

Purchase 1- to 3-inch thick satin ribbon, depending on what is appropriate for your dress and the bracelet. Choose either a color that is the same as your dress or a contrasting color for a more dramatic effect. Have ends of the ribbon cut in a elegant and clean manner, such as at an angle.

Open the bracelet and lay it flat on a table, with the back side facing up. Slip one end of the ribbon through the clasp of the bracelet on one end through to the other end of the clasp.

Adjust the belt so that the bracelet lies right in the middle with an even amount of ribbon on both ends.

Center the bracelet side of the ribbon on the front of your torso and tie it in the back.
