Coronado island restaurants

Coronado island restaurants

It's interesting:
"It was a stipulation for the wedding that the groomsmen weren't allowed to look better than the Best Man today and I'm pleased to say they have accomplished ..."

Coronado Island is located in the center of the San Diego Bay and is home to not only a little beach city, but also North Island Naval Base. Because of the influx of the military and its proximity to San Diego, Coronado has several restaurants that are known for their food and atmosphere. San Diego visitors and locals alike flock to Coronado to sample the delicious fare that the island has to offer.

  1. Pehoe's

    • Pehoe's is located on the water at one end of the island. This restaurant is known for its Pacific Rim cuisine and its breathtaking views of the San Diego skyline. After entering through the front door, your hostess will guide you through a cave-like setting until you reach your table. The restaurant has tiered seating, which allows for a bit or privacy and unobstructed views of the bay no matter where in the restaurant you happen to be sitting. In the warmer months, Pehoe's offers its patrons the option of dining on the patio, which is directly adjacent to the water. If you happen to have your own boat and get hungry from sailing on the bay, Pehoe's offers its own dock where you can tie your boat and walk in to enjoy a meal. Entrees include lobster ravioli, Caribbean jerk chicken and a shrimp trio platter.

    Il Fornaio

    • Il Fornaio is an authentic upscale Italian restaurant located on the San Diego Bay side of the island. This restaurant looks and feels like you have walked out of the San Diego air and into an Italian villa. It specializes in Italian cuisine from all over the Italy with dishes such as Pollo Toscano, a rosemary seasoned rotisserie chicken, and pennoni alla vodka, a pasta with bacon in a vodka cream sauce. Il Fornaio complements its dishes with a bottle of wine from smaller local wineries in order to allow patrons to experience the best flavor combination possible.

    1500 Ocean

    • No trip to Coronado would be complete without a journey to the Hotel Del Coronado. This famous hotel is home to several renown and award-winning restaurants. One of its best eateries is 1500 Ocean, which has been recognized by Wine Spectator and Bon Appetit magazines with rave reviews. This restaurant serves its southern California inspired coastal cuisine among dark wood and fiery sunsets. The lounge, the Sunset Bar, overlooks the Pacific Ocean and provides visitors with one of the nicest views in the city. Moving inside to the dining room, patrons will find a plethora of menu choices like Maine diver scallops served with zucchini fondue, baby squash and harissa spiced eggplant in a cherry tomato-clam vinaigrette, or kurobuta beef tenderloin, which comes with creamy polenta, guanciale and fava beans in a red wine jus, each complemented with a wine from a small or local vineyard.
