How to host an elegant dinner dance

host an elegant dinner & dance

It's interesting:
"This wedding takes place during a week when the web is all astir over ... 4-Feb-201There's nothing like a wedding around Valentine's Day."

You don't need a special reason to host an elegant dinner and dance. Whatever the occasion, an elegant dinner and dance is an event that you will want your guests to talk about and remember for a while. Keep your ideas original and creative so as to not repeat the same old menu that you make for every get-together. Additionally, keep your concepts elegant and formal to distinguish them from other types of parties.

Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Send out formal invitations to prospective guests. The people you invite will pick up on the elegance of the occasion when they receive an invitation in the mail, as opposed to getting a casual text message or invitation via email. When you design the invitations, keep them classy to capture the ambiance you are aiming for, and use formal language. Include an RSVP request at the bottom of the invitation, so that guests know they must personally contact you to commit to the event.

    • 2

Plan the dinner menu. For elegant dinners, feature escargot, seared scallops or pan-sauteed chicken with mango chutney instead of finger foods or traditional pizza or burgers. Keep the diets of your guests in mind so that everyone has something he can eat at your dinner. Come up with multiple courses to further the elegant feel of the dinner. Make the first course salad, soup or both. Plan for the second course to be a palette cleanser, such as sorbet, while the third course is the entree and fourth course is dessert.

    • 3

Prepare appetizers for your guests to snack on when they arrive. Give the appetizers an elegant tone as well. Shrimp wrapped in prosciutto, artichoke bruschetta, bread and an assortment of cheeses are all suitable homemade, hand-crafted hors d'oeuvres.

    • 4

Use your fine dishes and silverware. Dust off the crystal champagne glasses and pull your candlesticks out from the cupboards. To host an elegant dinner and dance, make the dinner table look fancy. Candle centerpieces create a romantic and elegant mood for the table.

    • 5

Set up an area for the dancing. Dancing could take place inside, near the dinner table or outside on a patio. Light the dance area with more candles, strings of twinkle lights -- also known as Christmas lights -- or lanterns for an elegant touch.

    • 6

Play elegant music during dinner, as well as for the elegant dance to follow. Suitable musicians include Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra and Norah Jones, as these artists produce slow and danceable songs. Avoid rock 'n' roll, hip-hop, rap and metal bands.

Tips &- Warnings

  • Use floral centerpieces instead of candles, or use both in combination.
