How to host an inexpensive bridal shower

host an inexpensive bridal shower

It's interesting:
"Sorry if the speeches drag on. Wedding receptions can be a bit like an X Factor results show. You just want to skip through the talky bits to find out ..."

Bridal showers should be fun, wonderful events. However, that does not mean that they have to be expensive. You can host an inexpensive bridal shower that is just as much fun as one that may cost three times as much. To host an inexpensive bridal shower, all you need is some time and creativity, and the desire to create a bridal shower that the bride will remember forever.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask the bride to hand pick her bridal shower guest list. It is not necessary to invite everyone who is invited to the wedding to the wedding shower. Especially when planning an inexpensive bridal shower, it is important to keep the guest list limited.

    • 2

Skip the unnecessary bridal shower decorations, or buy silly, fun decorations from the dollar store. Streamers are streamers, regardless of where you buy them. Spend as little as you can on decorations, because they'll be torn down at the end of the day anyway.

    • 3

Host the party at someone's home or an inexpensive event hall. A bridal shower should be all about the bride, not all about how expensive looking the venue is. A small event room or someone's home will create an intimate atmosphere for an inexpensive bridal shower.

    • 4

Skip the expensive wedding shower catering. Food stores like ShopRite and Costco have delicious crowd-pleasing food at a fraction of the price of a catering hall. People will enjoy the food just as much, and you'll pay next to nothing for it.

If you want to go a different route, plan the bridal shower at an inexpensive restaurant with a private room. Some buffets are inexpensive, and you can ask for a group discount.

Another option is to have a potluck bridal shower. Ask each guest to bring a dish, and you'll have an amazing spread of food.

    • 5

For dessert, skip the gourmet trays of cookies, cakes and pastries. Supermarkets make amazing, inexpensive cakes. If you don't want to go with a supermarket cake, get creative. Make a cake yourself, or make cupcakes. If you want to get really creative, pile donuts into a cake formation and serve donuts as a dessert. Donuts cost next to nothing at a place like Dunkin Donuts.

    • 6

Ask the members of the bridal party to bring alcoholic drinks to the bridal shower, should you choose to have alcohol. Drink costs can really add up, so feel free to ask people to chip in.

    • 7

Play free bridal shower games. Ask the groom questions about himself before the party, and see how many answers the bride can answer correctly. Or, ask the bridal shower guests questions about the bride and groom, and see who can answer correctly.

    • 8

If you want to have dancing at the bridal shower, bring an MP3 player and some speakers. Forget the deejay - the hand-picked MP3 experience is the way to go at an inexpensive bridal shower.

    • 9

Don't give out party favors at the bridal shower. While a party favor is a fun thing to give away, it's just not necessary. Don't we all already have too much stuff, anyway? If you really want to give something away, give away small bags of candy or something else that is fun and inexpensive.
