Diego crafts for a party

Diego crafts for a party

It's interesting:
"Learn connect what's happing in the news to the theme of weddings or marriage, the stereotypical characteristics of a groom, the duties of a best man, ..."

"Go, Diego, Go!" is an interactive preschool television show whose goal is to teach little ones about saving the environment, caring for animals and even a little Spanish. Kids seem to relate to Diego's quest for adventure and often enjoy "helping" him care for animals. Your party guests may like doing some Diego-themed crafts that will give them something that they can use in their own, real-life adventures.s

Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Jaguar

    • Diego's jaguar friend accompanies him almost everywhere he goes. With this craft from "Kids Crafts Magazine," your party guests can make their own jaguar to keep by their sides. Pour some orange paint into a Styrofoam plate. One at a time, have kids come to the plate and dip one hand in, scrape off the excess, then immediately stamp his hand print onto a piece of white card stock. While the hand print dries, they can cut out a face for their jaguar using orange construction paper. Once the hand print dries, have kids cut it out and glue the face directly on top of the thumb, leaving four fingers to serve as legs. They can then use black paint to add some spots. Use a hot glue gun to glue a clothespin to the back of their jaguars (with the clasp part pointing down) and when it dries, kids can clip their jaguar to the waist of their clothing and take him anywhere.

    Safari Hats

    • Diego usually finds himself on some sort of safari adventure in each episode. Your party guests may enjoy making their own safari hats for whatever adventures that you have planned for them. You'll need a paper plate and bowl. Turn the bowl upside down and set it aside, then cut a circle in the center of the paper plate that is five inches in diameter. Lay the paper plate "ring" over the upside-down paper bowl and use masking tape to secure the bowl to the plate. You can now let kids decorate their hats with khaki-colored tempera paint (mix brown and white until you get the desired color) and other craft items such as stickers, pompoms and craft foam shapes. When they're done, use a hole punch to make a hole on both sides of the rim of the hat, then tie some yarn or elastic through it.

    Canteens

    • Diego can often be seen carrying a canteen as he probablygets thirsty in his outdoor adventures. With a paper plate canteen craft from DLTK, your guests will have a canteen of their own. Provide kids with a paper plate and some different colors of paint so they can decorate the bottom of the paper plate. DLTK suggests letting them dip cotton balls into the paint and dabbing the paint onto the plate. When the paint dries, use a hole punch to make a hole in the rim of the plate and another hole in the rim straight across from the first one. Cut a piece of yarn about two feet long and tie each end through a hole in the paper plate. To make the spout for the canteen, have kids cut a rectangle from card stock and glue it to the top (when they have it strapped on) of the canteen. Alternatively, you could also hot glue a soda or water bottle lid to the top of the canteen.
