Blue Ridge Mountains

Biltmore Estate

Completed for the George Vanderbilts in 1895 and covering four acres of floor space, the Biltmore House is a wonder in its own right, but the entire estate offers romantic opportunities ideal for honeymooners. The Inn on Biltmore Estate offers spa services, fine dining and mountain views, while the guest rooms vary, giving you the choice of the room or suite you and your spouse desire for this special time. Some in-room amenities include plush bathrobes and slippers, safe-deposit box, 24-hour concierge and dining, wireless Internet and evening turndown service.
Aside from the Inn, there is also a cottage which was originally used as the home of the estate's market gardener, then later as lodging for VIP visitors. The cottage is exclusive: a private two-bedroom and two bathroom home located on the estate.
On the estate, you and your spouse can find several dining venues, offering cuisine such as fresh, local ingredients- fine dining or pub fare. Shopping is also available onsite, with stores and boutiques featuring items such as Appalachian crafts- Christmas ornaments- old-fashioned toys- garden accessories and many more.
The 8,000-acre estate offers self-guided and guided tours of "America's Largest Home," as well as a winery. Outdoors can be just as romantic, you can schedule a horseback or carriage ride to explore the estate, or take a guided raft tour down the French Broad River through the estate. Williamsburg may not come to mind when planning a Virginia honeymoon, but this historically rich city offers several accommodations, attractions and dining options that will keep the fire lit under your romance. Several restaurants are set in 18th-century style taverns, while casual, fine dining and international cuisines also abound throughout the city. Historical inns feature their original architecture, although they have been updated for modern conveniences and amenities. See the surrounding area's wineries by chauffeured limousine and find you and your spouse's new favorite vino.
The city is also home to many specialty shops, colonial architecture and historic sites, allowing you to pick up a souvenir or learn about this area and our nation's heritage.
