Places to have a wedding at a delaware beach

Places to have a wedding at a delaware beach

It's interesting:
"This wedding really couldn't come at a better time for anyone. Gary will probably be bald by this time next year. And Annabelle's just found out that ..."

Delaware Beach is lined with a bracelet of such vacation towns as Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Lewes and Long Neck, which draw tourists annually seeking sun and relaxation. In addition to being a summer hiatus, the shoreline is also a haven for alter-bound lovebirds, thanks to the picturesque backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, beachfront hotels and extensive golf courses.

  1. Boardwalk Plaza

    • Couples and wedding guests can indulge in old-fashioned afternoon teatime at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel.

Rehoboth Beach is a sophisticated beach hamlet flush with art galleries and high-end boutiques. One of the town's top wedding venues is the oceanfront Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. A pink Victorian establishment, the hotel prides itself on pampering guests, with rooms that have private balconies, whirlpool baths and an afternoon teatime on Monday through Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. There are three different types of wedding packages: the Casual Wedding Reception, Classic Wedding Reception and Formal Wedding Reception. All three offer an open bar and the option of selecting two separate dining banquets. Examples of banquets include the "Rustic Tuscan Table," plump with Italian delights such as antipasto and focaccia- the "One Thousand and One Nights," which serves up hummus and Israeli pickles- and the "Sushi Bar," which offers Nigiri sushi and sake. Between the Kent and Sussex Banqueting halls, the hotel can handle intimate parties of 20 or larger groups of just over 100.

    Bethany Beach

    • Wedding guests can toast the couple at the cozy Abby Sea B&B in Bethany Beach.

According to the website Beach Net, Bethany Beach is considered one of the Quiet Resorts. It is a quaint and peaceful oasis that occupies seven miles of sand and sea. The Addy Sea Bed & Breakfast is an ideal location for quiet weddings unfettered with over-the-top brouhaha. The oceanfront B&B has 13 guest rooms and a reception area that can handle 80 people. Included in the wedding packages are catering services, wedding consultations and lodging. All rooms have private baths, many have views of the Atlantic Ocean and some come equipped with Jacuzzis. While daily breakfasts include muffins, pastries and pancakes, lunches (only held in the summer) have sandwiches du jour. On Saturdays during the summer, the afternoon can be greeted with wine and cheese.

    Lewes

    • Couples can wed while gazing down at a winery at Nassau Valley Vineyards.

Lewes is home to Delaware's only winery, Nassau Valley Vineyards. The vineyard's various venues can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 400 guests. As of 2011, Claret Hall can be rented for $2,500. At 3,600 square feet, Claret Hall was built to mimic Williamsburg's Claret's Grove Plantation, built in 1750 and known for its brick arches, according to the Nassau Valley Vineyards website. It can fit up to 250 guests. The Gallery One facility has a glass viewing area, which lets guests look down into a wine cellar, and an art arena. The Bacchus Grove is available for $1,000 and is ideal for spring and summer as it has an outdoor canopy area that overlooks the vineyard. For those who want an outdoorsy feel, there is the Side Lawn, available for $600, which can handle up to 150 people. The wines at the vineyard itself have won a multitude of awards, from the Indy International Wine Competition and from the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition.

    Long Neck

    • Baywood Greens offers an environment for golf, dining, large banquets and, of course, weddings. Any couple nearing the altar will be guided by Baywood's Director of Events. Weddings are held at the Clubhouse, surrounded by luscious gardens, and sporting a view of an 18-hole golf course. The banquet area has a 378 square foot dance floor with two balconies peeking over a garden space. Couples can cherry-pick from Diamond, Platinum and Gold menus, and are guaranteed ivory or white table linens and a team of florists to create the perfect look.
