Ideas for a wedding entrance

Ideas for a wedding entrance

It's interesting:
"It's a shame, given this is a winter wedding, that the minister wouldn't let Paul and Linda have the pantomime theme wedding they originally wanted. Looking at Paul, I think ‘Puss in Boots’ would have been very appropriate."

Your wedding day is one of the most important and exciting days in a lifetime and an opportunity to celebrate and showcase your unique relationship. While many couples choose to stick to traditional songs and processionals, others make their event their own with special songs, routines and surprising twists. Create a wedding day that is memorable for you and your guests by planning an original entrance into your ceremony.

  1. Dance Down the Aisle

    • The concept of a creative wedding processional has become increasingly popular as a result of the JK Wedding Entrance Dance video that circulated on YouTube in 2009 in which a wedding party dances down the aisle to Chris Brown's "Forever." If you and your partner would describe yourselves as fun-loving, dancing down the aisle to a favorite song is a great way to showcase your personalities and turn your wedding into an entertaining celebration. Choose a song that you both enjoy, possibly one that reflects a memory you share together. Before you decide to make this your entrance, think about the members of your wedding party. While the day is certainly yours, you may want to ask yourself if dancing down the aisle will make any of the members of your bridal party uncomfortable.

Add the Band to the Audience

    • If you're planning to have a band play at your wedding or you have some musically talented friends, considering asking them to mix in with the wedding guests. Allow pre-recorded music of your choice to play and then, when the bride enters, have your musicians stand up, scattered among the guests to accompany the music. The guests will be surprised and delighted by the sudden turn in a seemingly standard wedding processional. Another option is to have a singer up front with a single instrument, such as a guitar, playing the processional. The musicians can accompany the singer upon the bride's entrance, eliminating the need for pre-recorded music.

    Add a Slideshow

    • Utilize the projector screens that many churches now own by creating a small slidesyour processional. Time your slideshow so that pictures of each member of the bridal party will appear on the screen as they make their way down the aisle. Choose pictures of the bride and groom with the bridal party member to commemorate your friendship. When the bride enters, utilize a single picture of the couple, such as an engagement picture, and leave it up on the screen. This will allow guests to turn their attention away from the picture and watch the bride as she proceeds down the aisle.

    Arrive in Style

    • Depending on the location of your wedding, there may be options for arriving in a nontraditional way. Outdoor weddings provide the opportunity for a bride arriving on horseback or in a carriage, while an outdoor wedding near a lake or river would allow the bride to arrive via boat. Consider how nontraditional you're willing to go, and then decide if a dramatic entrance such as this is appropriate or if a more traditional entrance would better fit your personality.
