Your wedding is the most significant celebration and party you will ever plan. You should incorporate your theme into every aspect of your wedding possible, from the location, bridesmaids' dresses and flowers to table settings and even lighting. Rustic weddings have a charming quality to them and can be very homey and casual or the most elegant hoedown you've ever dreamed of.

1. Table Settings

   • Table settings and seating arrangements will depend on where your reception is being held. For instance, if it's outside, use picnic tables. Galvanized buckets filled with ice are useful for serving drinks. Bales of hay can be used as serving tables or decorations outside or in a rustic barn.

     Decorate your tables with earth tones such as yellows, golds, tans, greens and any other color that comes to mind when you think of a rustic farm or field.

   Centerpieces and Favors

   • Favors can be set next to each place setting or displayed in a group as a centerpiece. Either way, Mason jars make great containers for rustic weddings. Fill them with wildflowers, daisies or sunflowers if you wish to incorporate floral arrangements. Floating candles work well for weddings late in the day. Jars of jam, honey and homemade preserves make colorful centerpieces that can double as favors. Tie raffia around the jars as a finishing touch.

     Galvanized vases, buckets or watering cans make great containers to house flowers as well. Ears of dried corn, gourds, cattails and pumpkins can also be incorporated as centerpiece decorations for your rustic wedding.

   Lighting

   • Lanterns, especially distressed lanterns, make great choices for lighting a rustic wedding reception. Hang them from rafters or trees. Candles look great in small lanterns or distressed bird cages. For outside weddings, use battery operated candles to avoid any windy mishaps. String white lights around for a romantic touch.

   Finishing Touches

   • Try offering hayrides during the reception. Children especially will be delighted. The bride and groom also can leave or arrive by hayride for a rustic, "down home" touch.

     If you choose to incorporate pumpkins into your decorations, you can carve hearts, your monogram or other symbol in them. Use battery operated lights to highlight your carvings. To occupy your little guests, you can set up a pumpkin carving station.

     Wind chimes work well for outdoor weddings, especially if they can be tied in with your wedding theme.
