A wedding processional may feature the playing of a prelude while the flower girl and ring bearer lead the bridal attendants up the aisle. When they are all in place at the altar, the music changes to the "Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's "Lohengrin"--"Here Comes the Bride"--and everyone stands to honor the star of the show. It's your wedding: Use your unique ideas to make your wedding processional as offbeat and unexpected as you wish.

1. Music

   • Incorporate a favorite song into the processional. Ask the organist to play "your" love song, the one that has special meaning to the two of you. You can jazz things up with a classic romantic song from a favorite such as Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra. Or choose a beloved rock song or show tune.

   Entrances

   • Have the flower girl throw confetti instead of strewing flower petals.

     Persuade the groomsmen to run up the aisle carrying the bridesmaids, or teach the attendants a dance to perform as they skip down the aisle. Have each attendant choose a favorite song and dance down the aisle to it.

     Instead of the bride's walking down the aisle when the song chosen for her entrance starts, she can enter riding in a decorated carriage or wagon, on a horse or on the back of a motorcycle. (Be sure to get permission of the establishment first.)

   Participants

   • Instead of having only humans in your bridal party, include a beloved family pet as the ring bearer. Tie a pillow to the back of your dog, cat or other pet to have it carry the ring. Or look into local to hiring an animal performer for the role.
