The checklist on what to pack for your wedding day
It's interesting:"A wedding is a time for joy and fun, with friends and family gathered to see the happy couple off as they start their new life. But it is a time, too, when our ..."
When you walk down the aisle on your wedding day, you look effortless and beautiful. Of course, all that beauty is the product of months and months of organizing and planning. But even after making so many arrangements, you still need to plan ahead for your wedding day. Whether you're heading for a destination wedding or the chapel down the block, pack a bag of supplies and essentials to ensure that your wedding day is flawless.
Beauty and Hair
Pack spare hair rollers or curlers.
Even if you dress and apply makeup before you arrive at your venue, bring along beauty and wardrobe items for touch-ups and emergencies. In addition to basic concealer, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara in your chosen shades, bring lip-gloss, for a last minute sheen, and nail polish, to touch up any chipping. Pack several cotton pads, tissues, makeup brushes and applicator pads, as well as moist towelettes and moisturizing facial, hand and body cream. No matter what your hairstyle, bobby pins and styling spray are necessities. Consider bringing a spray that will add gloss to your finished hairstyle, right before the ceremony. A hairbrush or comb will address flyaway hair or tangles.
Personal Items
Dental floss and breath mints ensure worry-free smiles and kisses. A handheld mirror is essential for quick makeup checks. Painkillers, eye drops, Band-Aids and a travel-sized first aid kid will help keep unexpected problems manageable. If you have a cold or other minor health issue, check that you have enough medication to keep you comfortable. Pack feminine-hygiene products, deodorant, hand sanitizer, perfume and any other small personal items you anticipate needing during the ceremony and reception.
Practical Items
Be prepared for weather emergencies.
Little things can make a big difference. Pack a comfortable pair of shoes for the reception, and a shawl in case you feel chilly. Pack bottled water and drinking straws so that you won't smear your lipstick. Especially for an outdoor wedding, bring sunscreen, an umbrella, raincoat and insect repellent. A last-minute wardrobe malfunction can be challenging, whether the problem is with your gown or a bridesmaid's. A basic sewing kit, hemming tape and stain remover keep problems under control. Bring a few small snacks, such as granola bars, which don't make a mess.
Logistics
On your wedding day, you'll still need to field last-minute logistics and planning questions. Bring all necessary contact information, perhaps contained in your cell phone or a journal. Include numbers for vendors, caterers, your limo driver and bridal party members. Make sure you have your phone and phone charger, as well as chargers for any other electronic gadgets. Bring spare cash in addition to your credit card or checkbook to allow for tips or unexpected costs.
