Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Wedding cake
  • Various decorations

Instructions

    • 1

Make a wedding cake or have one made by a professional. A fruitcake is a simple and sophisticated way to bring the spirit of winter into your wedding.

    • 2

Decorate the winter wedding cake with small Christmas ornaments or mini-Christmas packages if the wedding date is close to Christmas. Or one could try placing miniature, decorated Christmas trees on the different layers of the cake.

    • 3

Use items found in nature to decorate the winter wedding cake. These items can include poinsettia, holly leaves and holly berries, pinecones, berries and magnolia leaves. As guests will eat the cake, it is not a good idea to have the real leaves, berries and flowers on the winter wedding cake because they may be poisonous. One could make them out of fondant or one could apply icing in the shapes of these items.

Create a festive look by using silver and gold bells on and around the winter wedding cake. Also try grouping miniature Christmas ornaments with holly leaves and berries to create a sophisticated look. To create a cute winter wedding cake, add winter creatures such as reindeer or penguins.

Find a decorative cake topper for the winter wedding cake. Try using a crystal sleigh, a charming ceramic winter town scene or a big Christmas present bow for the top of the winter wedding cake.
