make a print out for a zebra print fondant stencil
It's interesting:"It's a shame, given this is a winter wedding, that the minister wouldn't let Paul and Linda have the pantomime theme wedding they originally wanted. Looking at Paul, I think ‘Puss in Boots’ would have been very appropriate."
A stencil is a flat sheet that is pierced with holes or a design to allow powder, paint or other materials to pass through to transfer the design onto another object. Fondant is a type of cake finishing treatment that can be rolled out in a sheet before being applied to the cake. Stencils are used over fondant to create intricate shapes and patterns during the cake decorating process. Before a stencil is made, a design is drawn and the stencil is cut. Making stencils is not difficult if you pay attention to a few details.

Things You'll Need
- Zebra drawing
- Food grade mylar
- Artist knife
- Marker
- Shortening
- Fondant
- Luster dust
- Soft brush
- Paper
Instructions
1
Make a photocopy of a zebra print at the size and scale you want for a stencil. Zebra prints and even zebra stencil prints are simple to find online and they are fine for copies.
2
Place food grade mylar over the copy and cut out the shapes. Leave an outside border and spaces so that the stencil will hold together.
3
Roll out fondant in a thin sheet. Wipe a fine layer of shortening over the fondant. Place the mylar on the fondant. The shortening will help hold the stencil in place. Wipe a fine layer of shortening over the stencil.
4
Dust the stencil with luster dust or other materials. Use a fine, soft brush. Remove the stencil. The fondant now has the pattern.
5
Wash the stencil with a grease-cutting soap and water. Place the dry stencil over a paper. Trace the outline of the zebra stripes onto the paper. Fill in the dark stripes. This can be scanned into the computer and printed out at any size you prefer.
