To find the right wording for your wedding reception card, you will need to know every detail that needs to be put on the card. Traditionally, the wedding reception card includes time, date, location and the address of the venue. Other details that you may want to add on wedding reception cards include whether it is a black tie affair or informal, or if it is adults only.

Begin the card with the announcement of the occasion. So the word, "Reception," "Dinner Reception," or, "Dinner and Dancing," will usually be centered on the first line of the reception card. The second line should be the time of the occasion. Traditionally this line usually says, "immediately following the ceremony." If it is not following the ceremony add the time of the reception. The name of the location, address and state should be on lines three, four and five of the invitation. Here is an example:

If you decide to make it an adults only reception and want to add a line. "Adults Only Reception" may be added to the last line of your reception card. If you want to add that it is a black tie affair. "Black tie" should put in the lower right-hand corner of the reception card. Make sure that the "B" in "Black" is capitalized while the "t" in "tie" is not.

All phrasing on the wedding reception cards should be in the third person. Punctuation is not used at the ends of lines, according to eInvite's Wedding Etiquette. The words, "Road", "Street," and "Avenue" should be spelled out. No abbreviations are used. Days, dates, and times are also always spelled out.
