Good places to renew your vows

After being married for a while it's nice to renew your vows to show each other that you are still committed to spending the rest of your lives together. You can re-create your wedding or create the wedding that you wish you had but couldn't have when you first got married.

1. The Place You Got Married

   • Often the place they got married has special meaning for couples. If you have an attachment to the place you got married it's nice to renew your vows in the same location. If you were married on the beach, go back to that beach and redevote yourselves to each other on the sand. If it was in a hotel you might want to decorate the ballroom the same way and renew your vows the same way you did them the first time.

   Bahamas

   • The Bahamas are a good place to renew your vows, because the water is clear and it gives the feeling of rebirth. It's somewhat like renewing your vows on a second honeymoon, because it's a vacation destination and a common place for honeymooners to go. Consider doing the ceremony on the sand near the water and dip your feet in the ocean as part of the ceremony for a cleansing and renewing ritual.

   While Skydiving

   • If you're into action and adrenaline you might want to renew your vows falling from the sky. Many people enjoy the feeling of being in the air before releasing the chutes because it's very freeing. That makes this period a good time and place to renew your vows because you are experiencing the free fall together and releasing your chutes together can be symbolic of the security of your relationship.

   The Opposite Side of the World

   • An exotic place to renew your vows is to do it on the opposite side of the world from where you first got married. Find the coordinates of your original location and then locate its opposite on a map. If you get a private boat you can use a GPS to find the exact location while out there. If you were married on the east coast of the United States the opposite would be in the southern Indian Ocean near Australia. If you were married on the west coast the opposite would be closer to Africa in the Indian Ocean.
