Choosing the right songs for an anniversary party will mean a lot to the couple celebrating a special milestone. Music plays an important part in many of our lives, often serving as a soundtrack that take us back to a particular place and time. If the songs have this kind of effect on the anniversary couple your party will be a success.

1. Keep it Age Appropriate

   • For those over 60 choose classic romantic ballads. "Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers with its lyrics "Through the years it's better every day" is a great choice for a couple together for decades. Other popular anniversary songs that could appeal to older couples are "It Had to Be You" by Frank Sinatra and "Crazy" by Patsy Cline.

     A slightly younger couple will be more comfortable with a wider range of songs. "All You Need is Love," and "I Got You Babe" are fun selections. "Have I Told You Lately," with its touching words "Have I told you there's no one else above you," is an ideal romantic choice.

   • A theme party should work for couples known to favor a certain kind of music. Have a Motown celebration for the pair in love with that rich soul sound and songs like "My Girl" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." If the love birds are into country music there's an endless selection of love songs from that genre that play well at parties. Go old school and play "Could I Have This Dance" by Anne Murray or "You Were Always on My Mind" by Willie Nelson. Contemporary country music offers romantic choices such as "Amazed" by Lone Star and "Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban.
