Spring wedding color ideas

Spring wedding color ideas

It's interesting:
"Since meeting Linda, I've seen terrific changes in Paul. He seems much more confident these days. He's surer of what he wants. He's happier, and he's much more willing to bend these days, too. Although he’s still adamant that Arsenal will win the next seasons Champions League."

A spring wedding evokes the idea of fresh new love, brightly colored flowers and all the beauty of a spring day. Traditional spring weddings often stick to tried-and-true pastel color schemes. However, while pastels are beautiful, there are many elements to consider when choosing the color scheme for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

  1. Trends

    • If you haven't picked a specific color scheme yet, consult bridal magazines and visit bridal shops where bridesmaid dresses are sold to see what the latest hot colors are. Chances are there will be several theme colors that are common for the season. Keep in mind that if you are looking to do something unique, this research will tell you which colors not to choose, as there are bound to be many weddings following the trends. Current spring wedding trends, as of 2010, include colors that are not necessarily the traditional pastel, but are still soft hues, such as turquoise, coral, pale yellow and fuchsia.

    Location

    • Consider basing your color scheme on the location of the wedding and reception. If you are having an outdoor wedding in a park, for instance, shades of green would not be ideal, as your entire wedding party would blend into the landscape. Choose colors that complement the location, such as pale pink or yellow, coral, fuchsia or pale gold for an outside wedding. Indoor colors can be more dramatic- if your wedding is at a church that has a dark interior, brighten up the event by choosing silver or dramatic ice blue.

    Mood

    • Colors affect our mood and the atmosphere of an event. Choose colors based on what you'd like to evoke, whether you're going for light, airy and romantic or dramatic and intense. To set the mood at a spring wedding, consider green, which evokes freshness and rebirth. Choose a softer tone for a romantic feel and pair it with something like silver to make it more elegant. Another mood color for a spring wedding is yellow, as it represents joy and happiness. Pair a pale yellow with a deep blue accent to bring up the brilliance of this sunny color and add in the feel of peace and tranquility that blue represents.
