Start out at one of Chicago’-s best vintage everything shops, Silver Moon. Located at 1755 W. North Ave, this shop has got some of the nicest 1930s and 1940s vintage clothing, as well as antique furnishings and an expansive selection of vintage wedding dresses. Something for nearly every price range, you’-ll be tempted to max out your credit card. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., plan on spending a few hours.

Disco fans and drag queens should run don’-t walk to Beatnix. Located at 3400 N. Halsted Street and Roscoe, this place is fun and funky. Stock includes retro clothing perfect for the eccentric dresser or Halloween costume, so be sure to make your way down to the basement where you’-ll find “-normal”- vintage clothing you’-ll love. The store is open Monday through Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the hours are as funky as the shop.

Head out to Wacky Cats at 3012 N. Lincoln Avenue. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., this shop specializes in 1950s wear and everything is clean and ready to go. The staff is especially knowledgeable and can help you with sizes but be warned, some shoppers find the owner to be a bit pushy. Know what you want and be in a good mood before you go in.

Get your bag on at The Daisy Shop at 67 East Oak Street on the sixth floor. One of the best vintage shops around, you’-ll find plenty of labeled couture clothing and lots and lots of handbags and accessories. Great sales on vintage classics, if you want something really special, this is the place to go. You can also shop online at their website (link below in resources,) or visit during store hours Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Parking nearby is tight and expensive, so be prepared with some extra green.

Save money at Una Mae’-s Freak Boutique. They have an ample selection of vintage clothing for both men and women, you’-ll find everything from bowling shirts to new, unique items, you’-ll find it located at 1422 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Open Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., this is a relaxing environment to end your shopping day on a good note.
