Quick party cocktail drinks

Quick party cocktail drinks

It's interesting:
"Wasn’t the wedding ceremony beautiful? The highlight, of course, was Linda floating magically down the aisle. I’m sure we were all thinking exactly the same thing: “How did HE get HER?”"

When preparing cocktails for a large crowd, speed is the key. In a crowd situation it is better to make a tasty libation quickly with a simple arsenal of liquors and mixers than perfecting a one-of-a-kind boutique cocktail, especially when being stared down by thirsty guests. Many popular and classic cocktails are good choices for quick party cocktail drinks.

Add this to my Recipe Box.

  1. Cosmopolitan

    • A cosmopolitan was around long before "Sex and the City." Combine 1 1/2 oz. vodka, a splash of triple sec or orange liqueur, a splash of lime juice and 2 oz. cranberry juice in a shaker full of ice. Shake the drink and strain it into a martini glass with a lemon twist. Add a spin on the traditional cosmo by substituting flavored vodka, such as citrus or mandarin.

    Lemondrop Martini

    • A variation of the shot by the same name, this lemondrop is meant for sipping. Fill a shaker with ice, add 1 1/2 oz. lemon-flavored vodka, 1 oz. lemon juice and 1 oz. simple syrup. Shake and strain into a martini glass rimmed with sugar. Change the lemon-flavored vodka to mandarin or pomegranate to up the fruitiness.

    Mexican Martini

    • This cocktail is a combination of the south of the border favorite, the margarita, and the sophisticate's staple, the martini. In a shaker filled with ice, add 1 1/2 oz. tequila, a splash of triple sec, 1 oz. lime juice, 1 oz. simple syrup and a splash of olive juice. Shake and strain into a martini glass rimmed with salt. Add a few olives for garnish. Add more or less olive juice to taste.

    Martini

    • The martini is one of the fastest and simplest of cocktails, though it has the reputation as one of the most difficult. To make a classic martini, pour 2 oz. gin, or vodka if you like, in an ice-filled shaker and stir with a cocktail spoon. Lightly sprinkle a chilled martini glass with dry vermouth, emptying out its contents, and then strain the drink into the glass. Garnish with olives or a lemon twist. Add olive juice as per individual taste to make your martini dirty.
