How to create a unique wedding invitation

create a unique wedding invitation

It's interesting:
"It seems that just a couple of days before the wedding, he chose a tall, striking blonde behind his fiances back. He voted for Boris Johnson on Thursday…"

Couples planning a wedding want it to be memorable, and creating a custom wedding invitation will help make it that way for them and their wedding guests. Follow along for information on finding the graphics, backgrounds and fonts and assemble them into a package that's right for you.

Things You'll Need

  • Stationery

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a wedding theme. The wedding invitation is the first image your wedding guests will have for your wedding. Design the invitation around a theme, and the invitation will be memorable. Such themes may include a nautical wedding, a rock 'n' roll theme, a golf wedding theme or a hippie wedding (see Resources).

When you're ready to look for clip art, create a separate folder on your computer to save the images in. Right-click on the desktop and select "New" and then "Folder." Name the folder "Wedding Invitations."

    • 2

Do not need to spend a dime on wedding fonts. Download a free font at Free Fonts (see Resources). Follow the website's directions for downloading and save in your fonts in your "Wedding invitations" folder. You can also create a font in your own handwriting at Yourfonts.com.

    • 3

Download free clip art, or use a website that charges a small fee, to create the look you want for your invitation. Right-click on the image, select "Save As" and save the download into your "Wedding invitations" folder. Websites with clip art include Weddingclipart.net, BridalAssociationofAmerica.com or iweddingclipart.com.

    • 4

Add a background from the Weddingclipart.net website, or use a picture of your own as a background. Follow the directions for downloading the free backgrounds and save the image to your "Wedding Invitations" folder.

    • 5

Choose a wedding invitation template at 983wedding.com. Click on "Wedding templates" on the left navigation bar. If you have Microsoft Word on your computer, check the options on your program. Go to Office.Microsoft.com and search for "Wedding invitation template." Be sure to choose the template that works with the Microsoft Word version on your computer.

    • 6

Add the background to the template. Click on "Insert" and choose "Picture - From File." Add the clipart the same way and place it appropriately and type the wording for the invitation. Highlight the text and click "Format," "Font" and select the new wedding font you installed. Resize and format as needed.

    • 7

Print out your invitations on stationery when you're satisfied with the design.

Tips &- Warnings

  • Use this process for wedding programs, wedding "save the date" cards and wedding thank-you notes, also.
