Wedding programs are meant to give guests a play-by-play of the wedding activities and offer explanations of any special customs the bride and groom choose to include. They are also an ideal way to recognize and honor people, such as grandparents, who are special to the bride or groom. Honor your grandparents, whether they are living or deceased, by including a line or verse for them in your wedding program.
Instructions
1
Determine all of the information you want to include in your wedding program, such as the ceremony information, list of the bridal party and the relatives of the bride and groom.
2
Decide if you'll incorporate a memorial or remembrance ceremony, such as lighting a candle, placing flowers or having a special verse or poem read in your deceased loved ones' memories.
3
List your living grandparents under the "-bride's family"- and "-groom's family"- sections. Your grandparents names should appear on one side of the program with their relation on the other. For example, "-Bessie Carroll~ Grandmother of the Bride."-
4
Recognize deceased grandparents by listing their names and titles under the explanation of your memorial ceremony or by adding another section to honor them.
For example, if you are having a memorial or remembrance ceremony, write a paragraph or short explanation, such as:
"-The three remembrance candles that burn on the altar are in loving memory of
Robert Lee--Grandfather of the Bride
Sammie Jones--Sister of the Bride
and
Lenora Timmons--Grandmother of the Groom"-
Or, a simple statement at the end of the program can be included, such as:
"-Although they're not with us physically, they are with us in spirit.
In Loving Memory of
Robert Lee--Grandfather of the Bride
Sammie Jones--Sister of the Bride
and
Lenora Timmons--Grandmother of the Groom"-
Tips &- Warnings
Keep dedications to the deceased short and sweet to keep the mood loving and joyous rather than melancholy.
