Camouflage weddings are a great way to share your passion of hunting and lodge life with your guests, or simply to create a different color pallet than the traditional all-white affair. However, due to its traditional omission from weddings, you may find it hard to find the supplies and style you desire from a local wedding boutique. Fortunately, by thinking outside of the box and using resources available to you, you can create a wedding reception that reflects the camo life you love.

1. Reception Venue

   • Choose a venue that lends itself to camo decor, such as an outdoor pavilion or a barn that you can decorate. Also check with local lodges, such as an Elks Lodge, which feature a rustic style.

   Attire

   • To fully capture the essence of a camouflage theme, you must consider attire. The bride can wear a camouflage dress and the groom can wear camouflage overalls. If the bride wants to maintain a more traditional wedding look, wear a camouflage sash or veil with your traditional white dress. Mention the theme to your guests and request that they come dressed in camouflage clothing.

   Linens

   • Rather than requesting camouflage-patterned linens from your caterer or rental company, opt instead for more common solid brown and green linens, and lay the linens over one another. Use camo fabric from your local craft store and cut it to the length of the table and half of the table's width to create decorative runners.

   Tables and Chairs

   • Use dark tables with long benches, or even picnic tables, for your wedding tables. Skip the formality in lieu of a more casual affair where dozens of guests can be seated at the same large table and enjoy closeness and banter.    • Be sure that you play plenty of music that reflects the hunting lifestyle, including blue grass songs and country music. Consider hiring a local band for a livelier and more interactive environment.

   Menu

   • Be sure your camo wedding theme stretches to your menu. Have a casual barbecue with menu items such as hot dogs, chicken legs, barbecue sandwiches and a roasted hog. Ask guests to bring their recent kills and make deer meat and duck. Provide plenty of drinks for your guests. Ask your caterer to create a camo cake or use a hunting theme with trees and fencing for your wedding cake.

   Centerpieces

   • Wrap a tin pail in a camo handkerchief or bandanna. Place flowers in the pail by poking them through a Styrofoam base in the bottom of the pail, or use logs for alternative centerpieces. Carve out part of the top of the log, place a candle inside, and wrap foliage around the logs. Place hunting lanterns with decorative candles inside alongside the flowers or logs, or throughout the reception area.
