For the bride-to-be, one of the most exciting prewedding activities is the bridal shower. One of the most important decisions in planning a bridal shower is deciding on a color scheme for the party. Choosing the perfect color scheme will set the mood for the party, whether you are planning a wild blowout or a traditional tea party.

Bridal Party Colors
One color theme idea for bridal showers is to use the colors the bride has chosen for the wedding party. For example, if your bride-to-be has chosen brown and baby pink as her bridal party colors, use chocolate brown tablecloths with cream-colored linens and soft pink tea roses for centerpieces. You could also use the same colors as the bridal party colors, but in different hues. If your bride has chosen royal blue and butter yellow as her colors, use baby blue tablecloths, crisp white napkins and bright yellow sunflowers or daisies for centerpieces.
Birthstone Colors
Jewel-tone wedding colors have become increasingly popular in the past few years, so consider using the bride and groom's birthstone colors for the bridal shower. Use one birthstone color for linens and the other for centerpieces. If the bride and groom happen to share a birthstone, or the stones are similar, such as garnet and ruby, try a monochromatic color scheme using different shades of the same color, or use the birthstone color as a background color with a complementary color for accents.
Black and White
For a modern and sophisticated color theme, choose a black and white color palette. An entire room decorated in black and white can be monotonous, so try using the black and white as accents. Use tablecloths or runners in bright colors such as lime green, fire-engine red or teal, and add black and white accents with napkins, centerpiece vases and dinnerware.
Traditional Palettes
For a traditional bride, try a soft, romantic color theme using various pastels on a white or cream background. Use white or cream tablecloths and napkins and choose dinnerware and centerpieces in a single pastel color. You could also try combining several pastels, such as baby blue, powder pink, and sea-foam green. Use a mixture of dinnerware in these colors, and create centerpieces of tiny flowers in these colors.
Another traditional idea is to use floral decorations. This is particularly appropriate for the traditional bride who has a tea party--themed bridal shower. Use white tablecloths and floral-print napkins with bold floral centerpieces.
