Write the year in full on formal shower cards: two thousand eleven.
Choose a message to go into your bridal shower card. It is important that the tone of the message and the card go together smoothly. You do not want to place a formal message into an informal card. Messages can be found on the Internet, or you can write one yourself. The message can include a poem if you desire. The bridal shower card needs to include the bride's name and the bridal shower's date, time and address. Be sure to say if the shower is a surprise shower or not and include an R.S.V.P regrets phone number.

Decide upon a color of heavy card-stock paper. If you wish, you can choose white or cream card stock and choose a colored ink for the font to match the wedding colors. Choose a font that matches the shower and wedding style. Place the card stock into the printer and begin using the card template program. Once you finish creating your card and save it into your system, print the cards out.

Place a piece of vellum that matches the shower colors on top of the card and cut it to fit with scissors. Vellum can be found in most scrapbooking or craft stores. Hold the vellum on top of the card, lining it up evenly and place one hole in each of the top two corners of the card and the vellum together with the hole punch.

Cut a 12-inch length of ribbon that corresponds well with the card's color scheme. Push the ribbon through the holes. Tie the ribbon into a bow in the front of the vellum.

Add a small silk flower within the center of the bow, thin bamboo strips, small die-cut hearts tied together with ribbon, vintage buttons or other ideas you may enjoy to add to the creative flair of the shower card.

Place the card in the envelope. Sprinkle a small amount of glitter into the envelope or confetti shaped like hearts, flowers or another shape that will correspond well to the shower's theme.

Seal the envelope and use double-sided tape to add other embellishments to the back closure area of the envelope, such as another vintage corresponding button, a flower, a tiny seashell or sprigs of faux grass blades. You can also seal the back of the envelope with sealing wax in the wedding shower's main color and use an image or a monogram in the wax.
