A wedding vow renewal ceremony allows an already married couple to reaffirm the love they have for one another in front of their children, extended family and friends. While giving gifts to couples renewing their vows isn't customary or necessary, you may want to give them something to commemorate the occasion.

1. Best Wishes and Photographs

   • Sharing your best wishes with the happy couple may be the best present you can give. After the ceremony seek out the couple to wish them well for future years to come. If you attended the couple's first wedding, share a memory with them about their special day. If you have a favorite photo that you took of the bride and groom when they were first married, frame a copy of the image and give it to the happy couple as a gift.

   Card and Gift Certificates

   • In lieu of a gift, give a card. If you are artistic or crafty, make your own or buy a blank card on which you can include a handwritten note. If you are particularly close with the couple, write a few lines about how special they are in your life before wishing them years of continuing happiness. Inside the card include a gift certificate for an activity the couple can enjoy together. A dinner out at a restaurant, a night at the theater or a day at the spa are possible options.

   Donation

   • Giving a house wares item as a gift is redundant as the couple already has everything. When you are at a loss at what to give the couple, make a donation to their favorite charity in their names. Not only will you be helping a worthy cause, but the couple will be delighted at your thoughtfulness. When you don't know the couple's favorite charity consider making a donation to a local children's hospital or to a national organization such as American Cancer Society.

   Anniversary Gifts

   • Some couples renew their vows on their wedding anniversary. If this is the case and the couple is reaffirming their love on an important anniversary give a gift that marks the occasion. An item made out of tin is typically given to couples celebrating their 10th anniversary. For those celebrating their 25th anniversary, giving a present made from silver is appropriate as this milestone is traditionally considered the silver anniversary. The color of ruby red signifies 40 years of marriage.
