Wedding ceremonies often include many elements, and the program will be the first thing the guests read when they take their seats. You will want to be careful not to exclude anyone from the program, and also to double-check the spelling of participants' names. Before you write your own program, contact your officiant or the secretary at your church. Often, churches have strict requirements regarding the wording of the program, the order of the ceremony and especially the source of the readings. Sometimes churches will design your programs for you, especially if they charge a fee for the ceremony. Work with your officiant to decide the order of the ceremony and the readings you would like to include.

Write the full names of the bride and groom (first, middle and last) along with the wedding date, place and time on the cover of the program or at the top of the page.

On the first page of text, write a section header: "The Wedding Ceremony." Then write the order of events of the ceremony, giving each event its own line on the program and centering the name of each event.

Write the name of the processional music with the title of the song in quotations followed by the first and last name of the composer. Beneath it, write "Officiant's Greeting and Blessing," followed by the name of the officiant.

On a new line, write "Exchange of vows." Beneath it, write "Exchange of rings."

After writing "Pronunciation of Marriage," write "Recessional music," putting the names of the songs in quotation marks, followed by the name of the composer.

Print the text of prayers or readings at the bottom of the first page of the program. When writing the text of the readings, write the source of the reading (if it is a Bible passage, write the book, chapter and verse), then on a new line write the full text of the reading as it occurs in the source. If your officiant is using a certain version of the Bible, copy the text as it appears in that specific version.

On a new page of the program, write the section header "The Bridal Party." Write the first and last names of the bridal party, identifying the flower girl, ring bearer, best man, maid of honor, bridesmaids and groomsmen. Give each participant his or her own line. Next to their names, you may also want to include the relationship of each participant to the bride or groom, such as "bride's sister."

Write the first and last names of the mother and father of the bride and the mother and father of the groom. You may also want to include grandparents' names.

Write the name of the officiant, the readers and the musicians.

Write a memorial to a loved one who has passed, a blessing or an expression of gratitude to guests as the last item in the program
