How to choose a special occasion cake

choose a special occasion cake

It's interesting:
"The best man at my own wedding told me that one and it worked - for 15 years anyway, before she left me for someone short, fat and balding, who happened to ..."

Almost every party has a special occasion cake displayed for guests. You want your cake to fit the occasion and look as professional as possible. A lot of thought and time goes into choosing a special occasion cake. Considering the type of occasion, the amount of guests and flavor of the cake is just a few things. Deciding where to have your cake made is also important. You want your special occasion cake to be the talk of the party.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick a cake size depending on how many guests you need to serve at your occasion. Different types of cakes are designed depending on the size needed. Take into consideration the size of the event and the amount of invited guests. It is better to choose the cake size to be a bit larger than expected. You want to make sure you have more than enough, rather than not enough, cake for the event.

    • 2

Make a budget on how much you want to spend on the special occasion's cake. Shop around and check out prices. You want to find a bakery that will provide the cake you desire at the right price. Also find out if your chosen bakery delivers or if you have to pick it up yourself.

    • 3

Taste test a variety of cake flavors in a cake shop. The flavor of cake is important to the honored host of the party as well as the guests. It should be something the host enjoys as well as the guests. According to the type of occasion, you should choose a cake flavor or type to fit to the occasion. Decide if you want a filling in the cake or not. Specify colors of icing and decorations you want put on the cake. A simple cake will do for smaller occasions and a more sophisticated type of cake for weddings or large events.

    • 4

Call to order your special occasion cake in advance of your event. Double check that the order is correct with the bakery at the time of order. This includes confirming the spelling of words to be written on the cake, icing colors, cake flavor with or without fillings, icing flavor and decoration colors. You don't want to receive the cake on the day of the occasion to find out there was a miscommunication in the ordering of the cake.

    • 5

Check the cake over once you receive it to ensure the decorations are correctly in place, wording is spelled and worded correctly and the flavor and icing is what you ordered. Check the size of the cake to ensure it is correct as well. The cake should be fresh and look professionally prepared.
