Your wedding invitations carry a lot of weight. Not only do they announce your event- They provide key information, such as the location, date and time. They are also your guests' first look inside your wedding. Your invitations set the tone for things to come, and let your guests know what to expect when they arrive. If your wedding is outdoors, it's important to include it in your invitations, so those that attend can dress appropriately.

Instructions

    • 1

Mention the outdoor location clearly in the invitation. You can do this by stating the guest is "invited to an outdoor wedding celebration." This can also be accomplished by stating the exact location after the physical address. Write "in the backyard" or "on the beach" -- so guests know exactly what to expect.

Include rain cards. These inserts let guests know where to go in the event of inclement weather. Make sure the rain cards detail exactly what type of weather justifies a change in location, such as rain, lightning or snow.

    • 3

Be creative. The fact that your wedding is outdoors lifts some of the formal restrictions and allows you think outside-the-box. Use a fun color or shape for the invitation, or use less formal wording.
