Wedding decorating ideas for lds wedding receptions

Wedding decorating ideas for lds wedding receptions

It's interesting:
"Extended anecdotes at a wedding are like a porn star's professional pride and joy; long, hard and difficult to swallow. There are, of course, exceptions; tales so ..."

Although a wedding ceremony is a very sacred time, it is at the wedding reception that the couple, their families and their friends will come together to truly celebrate the joyous occasion. The decor of an LDS wedding reception should reflect the personality of the newly married couple. When selecting your decor, consider the theme of the wedding ceremony, the type of couple you are and the mood you wish to create for the reception, and plan accordingly.

  1. Romantic Decorations

    • Having just come from the wedding ceremony, you may choose to incorporate the ceremony's air of romantic love into the wedding reception. Consider using lit candles and pastel-colored flowers as centerpieces on the tables. Drape tulle along one wall and use it as the backdrop for wedding pictures. To truly capture the spirit of romance, place lamps, lanterns and candles throughout the reception area to create soft light. Combine some of the following colors to create a romantic color scheme: lavender, red, white, black, pink and pastels.

    Playful Decorations

    • If a romantic decor isn't to your taste, consider giving your reception a lighter feel. For example, if you and your partner went somewhere fun on your first date, such as the beach, host a luau-themed reception. For a luau theme, consider decorating the reception location with bright colors, giving each guest a leis to wear and using seashells as centerpieces. With a playful reception, the only limit to your decorations is your own imagination- consider fun themes to base your decorations around.

    Hobby Decorations

    • If you and your husband share a particular passion or hobby, incorporate that interest into the decor of your wedding reception. For example, if you are musicians, ask your guests to sign an instrument instead of a guest book. The couple who enjoys traveling or plans on entering into the mission field could decorate the reception area to reflect a specific culture. Incorporating something you both love into the wedding reception will create lasting memories that you will both carry throughout your marriage.

    Temple-Focused Decorations

    • Ultimately, as an LDS couple, the temple should be an important part of your marriage. To that end, you can center the wedding reception around the temple. If you know of anyone who was married in the temple, such as your parents or grandparents, display photos from that occasion on various reception tables. Alternatively, use photos of other temples throughout the world and incorporate facts about each temple onto a tent card- guests will love to see other temples and learn more about them. Through this reception theme, you and your husband will show everyone the importance LDS has in your new marriage.
