Things to do in nyc in september

It's interesting:
"This wedding takes place during a week when the web is all astir over ... 4-Feb-201There's nothing like a wedding around Valentine's Day."

September is a prime time to visit New York City--the sweltering heat is gone, and the blustery cold hasn't set in. So take advantage of the fine weather and head outdoors for all kinds of New York activities. Whether you're at a baseball game, a wild festival or a gorgeous garden, you'll get a taste of the city and mix with locals and tourists alike. Everyone likes to enjoy the Big Apple while the sun shines.

  1. Take a Tour

    • There's no better month than September to take a boat tour of New York Harbor. You have all kinds of choices, including a dining cruise (worldyacht.com), a picnic or wine-tasting cruise (sail-nyc.com) and a speedboat cruise that's great for kids and teenagers (circleline42.com).

    Special Events

    • Get ready to eat great food at a great price during New York Authentic Mexican Restaurant Week in September. To introduce people to new kinds of Mexican food, restaurants throughout the city offer an array of three-course dinners at discount prices.

If you're looking for a fun fall festival, try the West Indian American Day Parade & Carnival with its lively parade participants, hot eats, and calypso and reggae music. Another popular event is the Feast of San Gennaro, which includes a festive parade, music and food in addition to its religious aspects.

On a completely different note, people gather throughout the city to remember the events and victims of September 11. You can visit the Tribute WTC Visitor Center, or join in one of the many memorial ceremonies or concerts.

    In the Gardens

    • Be sure to stop by one of NYC's public gardens in September. The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG.org) has a wonderful conservatory, rock garden, orchid section and forest area. Other great gardens include the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG.org) and the Queens Botanical Garden (queensbotanical.org).

    New Stadiums

    • Get out for a professional baseball game in one of New York's two new stadiums. Compare the food, seats and atmosphere at Citi Field (the Mets' new home) and Yankee Stadium. For tickets and information, visit yankees.com or mets.com.

    If It Rains

    • Although the weather is usually fine in September, you still might get a rainy day. That's a great reason to tour one of New York's amazing museums. Don't miss walking down the spiraled levels of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (guggenheim.org), which features modern and contemporary art. The Museum of Modern Art (moma.org) also concentrates on modern and contemporary work, while the Metropolitan Museum of Art (metmuseum.org) covers many eras in magnificent fashion.
