The renewal of vows is a personal ceremony, often shared with a couple's closest friends and family. For a personalized touch, the couple can create their own invitations at home and hand deliver them. Even elaborate invitations can be made easily with just a few simple-to-follow instructions.
Things You'll Need
- 9-inch long wooden dowels
- Small wooden finials
- Gold or silver spray paint
- Embossed paper
- Calligraphy pen
- Spray adhesive
- Ribbon
- Long, thin box
- Self-adhesive gold or silver foil paper

Cover a flat working surface with newspaper. Lay out two, 9-inch long wooden dowels with a diameter of 1/2 inch on the flat surface. Next to the dowels lay out four small wooden finials with an opening of 1/2-inch.

Spray the wooden dowels and finials with a thick coating of silver or gold spray paint. Set the dowels and finials aside to dry for at least 24 hours. Repeat this step for as many invitations as you need.

Lay a sheet of lightly embossed paper on a clean flat surface and use a calligraphy pen to record the details of the renewal of vows ceremony and reception. Include the name of the couple, the date, time, location and detailed response information. Be sure to use wording in the invitation that clearly states the purpose of the event, such as "a ceremony for the reaffirmation of wedding vows" or "to reaffirm our wedding vows". Repeat this step to make more invitations.

Attach two of the spray-painted finial ends to one of the wooden dowels. To do this, apply a little bit of spray adhesive to the end of the dowel and insert it into the finial and press firmly for at least 30 seconds. Repeat this step on the other side of the dowel and then for the other dowel and finials as well.

Apply the spray adhesive to the entire length of one of the wooden dowels, but not to the finials. Press the dowel firmly against the top edge of the embossed paper invitation and wrap the paper around the dowel. Repeat this step for the bottom of the paper as well and allow 30 minutes for the glue to dry completely.

Roll both ends of the paper with the wooden dowels attached toward the center of the paper and wrap the rolled invitation with a ribbon in the center and tie the ribbon in a bow.

Lay a long, thin rectangular box on the newspaper-covered surface. Make sure the box is large enough to hold the scroll invitation. Spray the entire inside and outside of the box with the same spray-paint used on the wooden dowels and finials. Let the box dry in an open position for 24 hours.

Apply two long strips of self-adhesive gold or silver foil paper to the width of the top of the box.

Place a piece of silky or satiny fabric inside the box and place the scroll invitation on the fabric. Close the box and wrap a gold or silver ribbon around the center of the box to secure it.
