Wedding invitations are usually sent out six weeks prior to the date of the wedding. Enclosed inside the invitations are usually two little cards, one that gives the details of the reception and one that asks for an RSVP. The second one is your response, or reply, card. The bride needs to know far in advance how many people are attending the wedding, so she know how many guests to plan for. It's good etiquette to send the response card in the envelope provided as soon as possible.

      Read the invitation, noting who is invited. Children are not invited to the wedding unless the invitation states "and family" on the outside of the envelope. If you are single and the envelope has your name with "and guest" added, you are permitted to bring a date.

      Note the date on top of the response card. This indicates last day the bride should receive your RSVP. Mail your reply at least three days before this date to allow the card time to travel in the mail to the bride.

The music in your ceremony sets the mood for your wedding, and listing it in your program can help you to remember in the future what you played at your wedding, and help others identify the music played during your ceremony.

      Include the music on the left side of the program, on the back of the front page. This is the page that includes the ceremony order.

      Place songs in italics or in quotation marks. Put the artist or performer of the song next to the song as well, especially on songs considered to be more important culturally, such as hymns and solos sung or performed during the ceremony. This is to acknowledge the contributions of performers and to give credit to artists, even if they are just played on a CD over the speakers or sung by the guests.

      Print "Processional" and "Recessional" on the left side of the page at their appropriate places in the ceremony order. Type a line of periods after them, and include the title of the song on the right side of the page after the periods. List the artist and/or composer if you wish. Artists of processionals and recessionals are not always listed in programs.

Circular barbells, or horseshoe barbells, are a versatile style of piercing jewelry. They receive their name because they are shaped in a "C" shape like a horseshoe. A bead screws onto the end of the "C" shape on either side to keep it held in the piercing. Circular barbells most commonly replace captive rings or banana bars as all have a curved shape which sits in the piercing. When holding a circular barbell for the first time, putting it in can be a bit confusing. However, once you have the hang of it, it's quite simple.

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swabs
  • Circular barbell

Instructions

      Dip a cotton swab into some rubbing alcohol so that the cotton is completely moistened.

      Use the rubbing alcohol on the end of the cotton swab to thoroughly clean the circular barbell and then set it aside to air dry on a clean surface.

      Use a new cotton swab, dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the piercing area. Be sure to clean the front and back of the piercing as thoroughly as possible.

      Unscrew one ball from the circular barbell and set the ball aside somewhere safe, where you will not lose it.

      Slide the end of the circular barbell, from which you removed the ball, into your open piercing- continue to slide it in until the circular barbell is hanging evenly from your piercing.

      Screw the ball tightly onto the end of the circular barbell, holding it in place in your piercing. Ensure that the other ball is screwed tightly on as well.

  • Never change a new piercing before it has healed. This can damage the piercing and cause a buildup of scar tissue.

Programs (also known as guides or playbills) may include a description of your presentation, biographies of the people involved, a history of your organization, or pictures and contact information. You can create programs in Microsoft Word, where with just a couple of clicks through one of Word's preset program templates, you'll be ready for the curtain to rise.

      Open Microsoft Word, click the "File" tab and click "New." Double-click the "More templates" folder under the "Available Templates" section.

      Double-click the "Programs" folder to open the collection of Word program templates. Any template may be completely modified, so double-click on one of the options that you like. Within a few moments, the program will open in a new Word window.

      Click into the program title text box. Highlight the placeholder text and type over it with your own text, such as "Janofsky High School Presents..." Highlight your new headline and use the "Font" section of the toolbar to change the font, text size, color or alignment of the words according to your preferences.

The word confetti often conjures up the image of masses of tiny paper or foil shapes scattered on party tables or in greeting cards. Paired with New Year's Eve, it may mean long strings and paper shreds bursting from the end of noisemakers and dropping from popped balloons. But "confetti" paired with "wedding" inevitably reminds us of the traditional confetti-throwing ceremony: the time when guests line up to shower the departing bride and groom with confetti-even though actual paper confetti is rarely used for this tradition.

  1. Rice: The Original Confetti

    • Throwing rice at a newly married couple is one of the longest-standing wedding traditions that still exists today in something close to its original form. The tradition was established by the ancient Celts, who believed that showering the couple with rice would bring blessings and fertility to the marriage according to Cathy Ward, an expert on Celtic wedding traditions. The tradition lasted until the late 1980s when word got around that the rice thrown at weddings was killing birds, particularly pigeons. The rumor claimed that the uncooked rice expanded in the bird's stomach and caused it to rupture. Though untrue, this rumor led to the investigation of alternative materials for the tradition. Today, most churches and halls do not allow rice, but this is because it makes a huge mess, not because it kills the birds.

    Paper Confetti

    • The English word confetti evolved from the Italian, where it means the candies and sweets traditionally thrown at the bride and groom at the end of the ceremony. While candy-tossing made a brief appearance as tradition in the United States, Americans quickly decided that sweets were for eating, not throwing. Paper confetti was first manufactured in about 1890 and immediately became a hit item for showering newly married couples. The problem, of course, is that it made a major mess, especially in outdoor areas that cannot simply be vacuumed. So while the throwing of paper confetti still occurs, most facilities and churches do not allow it and those that do charge a hefty cleanup fee. A few companies have begun offering biodegradable confetti for use in outdoor areas, but most venues still ban these products because they don't dissolve fast enough and must still be cleaned up before the next wedding or event.

    Petals and Leaves: Nature's Confetti

    • Between the candy-chucking and paper-showering trends, tossing natural items like flower petals and leaves became popular, possibly in homage to a similar European tradition popular during the Renaissance. Petal tossing in the U.S. began with real plants, which was OK with the environmentalists and tolerable to the venues. But the expense and fragility of the petals inevitably led to the use of silk and other manufactured materials, which caused the same issues as paper confetti would later. Luxury wedding confetti still uses real petals (particularly rose petals), but it is quite expensive so most couples opt for a more affordable alternative.

    Bird Seed: A Modern Confetti Alternative

    • Bird seed became a fashionable alternative to rice after the pigeon controversy. Like rice, birdseed may be tossed by the handful from communal receptacles, but is more often presented in individual packets for each guest. While many churches and reception halls discourage rice, most do allow birdseed because it is usually cleaned up by the area's feathered residents long before it becomes a nuisance. However, some locations ban even birdseed because of the liability involved in slip-and-fall accidents, so couples should check the specific facility rules.

    Bubbles: The Fun of Confetti without the Mess

    • More and more modern weddings use bubbles for the traditional confetti-throwing event. Bubbles as confetti first became popular in the 1980s, but were controversial because the high soap content damaged plants, was bad for the environment and caused slippery messes on solid surfaces. Today's bubble formulas are greener, safe for the grass and far less slippery than the old formulas. Since there is no mess to clean up, most venues welcome bubbles. Favor-sized bottles of bubbles come in many shapes, including hearts. Couples can supplement with a bubble machine to create even more magic.

Every couple has its own needs and desires, and yours may not include material wedding gifts from your guests. Think twice before you put a note about "no gifts" on your invitation. Telling your guests not to bring gifts on the invitation is just as tacky as including registry cards.

  1. Reason for the Rule

    • Etiquette dictates that there should be no mention of gifts anywhere on a wedding invitation because there should not be an expectation that guests will bring gifts. By refusing gifts or writing "in lieu of gifts . . ." you are indicating that without such a note, guests are compelled to give you a present. Guests give out of their own generosity, not because they have to under the rules of etiquette or tradition.

    Spreading Your Request

    • Guests who are interested in giving a present will seek out information related to registries or desired gifts. Emily Post suggests letting the information get out by word of mouth or through your wedding website. You can spread the word to close family and bridal party members that you do not desire gifts. When they are asked where you are registered, they can make your wishes known. Likewise, if you prefer your guests give to a charity in lieu of gifts, give this information to your inner circle or post it on your wedding website. Include a link or note on the side of your wedding page explaining that you respectfully request no gifts.

    Careful Wording

    • Do not directly say "no gifts, please" because many guests will want to give you gifts and will not appreciate being told not to do so. Carefully phrase your words so as not to offend. Consider the following examples: "Your presence is the only gift we request." "In lieu of gifts, we ask that you pray for our future together." "In lieu of gifts, we ask that you donate to a charity in our name." Use these phrases or make up your own to let guests know your wishes without sounding like guests are forbidden from giving a material or monetary gift if they please. Remember that all presents deserve thank-you cards. If guests give charitable donations in your name, you should acknowledging their gift with thanks.

Just as wedding rings can be designed for a couple, promise rings also can be custom made. There are a few things to consider when designing a promise ring that will make the process easier.

    • Pick something durable for your materials. A promise ring, like a wedding ring, is meant to last for a significant period of time, so make sure that the material you choose will not deteriorate quickly. Materials that tarnish easily should be avoided, as should materials that are malleable enough to have the ring lose shape easily over time. Choose solid metals such as silver or gold, or similar more cost-efficient alternatives such as tungsten or zirconium.

    Meaning

    • Pick a symbol or gem that has significant meaning to both you and your partner. Because promise rings are meant to signify a commitment to a union, whatever symbol or gem you choose should be something that reminds you of each other. The symbol or gem could be a special type of stone, represent a place, thing, or activity you both enjoy or recognize that has meaning, or it could be symbolic of the vows made with the promise-ring exchange. For instance, often placed in pairs, the heart shape traditionally symbolizes that the heart of the giver is taken or that the hearts of the couple are intertwined, while the use of diamonds symbolizes the strength and "foreverness" of the relationship.

    Practicality

    • Consider what you'll be doing when wearing the promise ring. Even though you want the design to be special to you and your partner, you do not want the design to be such that it gets in the way, poses a safety hazard (e.g., potential to get caught on machinery at the workplace), or clashes with everything else that you and your partner will wear.

  1. Spring/Summer-Themed Cupcakes

    • If you've got a summer birthday party or picnic to bring cupcakes to, try putting some pizazz in your decorations that will delight the guests. For cupcakes that add a bit of citrus sweetness to a hot day, place a candied orange slice on top and use a vanilla frosting tip to make a thin border around its edge. Create beach-themed cupcakes by frosting the top, dusting it with graham cracker crumbs (for sand) and top it with a marzipan starfish. Make your cupcakes look like sunflowers by using a small tip to make rows of yellow icing (for the petals) and fill the center with chocolate covered sunflower seeds.

In honor of cider season, make cupcakes that look like the top of an apple. Frost with red icing, insert a mini-pretzel stick for the stem and cut a leaf from green sour candy tape.

    • If you don't want to add extra adornment to your cupcakes, you can still do more than just spread on white or brown frosting. Play with color. All it takes is a few dabs of food coloring added to vanilla frosting to make a bright color that pops or a pretty delicate color perfect for spring or a girl's tea party. Experiment with different frosting tips. Frosting tips come in many different sizes and patterns. If you "dot" the frosting on the cupcake you'll have an instant pretty design. If you pipe frosting on with the tip of your choice you can create textured swirls and circles.

    Personalize

    • Personalizing may take a bit of practice, but cupcakes can make placeholders for any party. Guests will get a kick out of seeing their name on a cupcake reserved for them. Frost your cake and simply pipe names in a contrasting color. Or for a child's birthday, draw on simple faces and write the name underneath.

Most brides are well-versed in the differences between chiffon and organza since both fabrics are used predominantly as wedding dress material. While chiffon and organza look similar to the untrained eye, there are several distinct differences between them.

    • Both chiffon and organza appear gauzy in nature. They are whimsical and delicate fabrics, which is part of the reason they are both popular choices for wedding attire. Chiffon flows more easily, giving it a more feminine look. Organza, on the other hand, is a stiffer fabric. It does not flow well, but it is often used in very structured dresses that are not intended to flow. Chiffon also has a hint of sheen to it. Organza is matte in appearance.

    Functionality

    • Both fabrics wear well and do not wrinkle easily. Chiffon, in particular, breathes well, making is a smart choice for summer brides who have outdoor weddings. Organza is used as a feminine top layer for wedding dresses, but it is also often used to provide structure to a bodice or underpin softer fabrics. Before ordering your wedding invitations with the name of your local church, make sure you meet the requirements for getting married in a Methodist church.

  1. Clergy

    • Many churches require that a minister of the church officiate the wedding. This helps make sure the wedding adheres to the teachings of the Methodist Church and that the ceremony is approached with the proper reverence. Some churches will waive this requirement if the wedding officiant is a Methodist minister. If the officiant of the wedding is not the minister guiding your premarital counseling, you will likely have to meet with the officiant at least once prior to the wedding. This will give you the opportunity to make sure you're on the same page as the officiant and that the planning is going smoothly.

    Music

Weddings range in formality from jeans to black tie and a mix of everything in between. Many people shy away from black tie standards at weddings simply because they are unfamiliar with the etiquette.

    • some people think black tie is the only formal class of wedding or evening wear, but white tie is also to be considered in this category. White or black tie is considered evening-only evening wear. This tradition began in Victorian times because it was considered only appropriate to wear your finest clothing after sunset.

    Watch the clock

    • Since we no longer live by Victorian era standards, etiquette now states formal attire is acceptable after 6 p.m. or dark-whichever come first.

    Age-appropriate

    • As suggested by formal wear, black or white tie events are formal and are not intended for children. A good general rule of thumb is boys should not wear dinner jackets before they turn 15 nor should they wear tailcoat until age 18.

    Event appropriate

    • Even though you may be tempted to pull the tuxedo out of the closet at every opportunity, this is not appropriate. Opera openings, an evening at the ballet, symphony concerts, private balls or fundraising dinners and, in some cases, weddings are all appropriate places to wear a tuxedo.

    By invitation

    • In most cases, if you are invited to an event that is black or white tie, the information will be included on the invitation. While in the past it was considered "-tacky"- to include dress instructions on an invitation (in the lower right corner of the invitation), but recent years have changed this trend simply because there are so few formal events hosted.

Fondant icing can give a normal wedding cake a smooth look and extra design opportunities. The cake itself has to be completely cool, crumb-coated and frosted before you apply the fondant. The frosting will help the fondant keep its rounded appearance.

Things You'll Need

  • Cornstarch
  • Rolling pin
  • Knife
  • Thin Wire or Needle

Instructions

      Sprinkle cornstarch on top of your work surface to keep the fondant from sticking and knead. The dough will be stiff. Heat it in the microwave for about 15 seconds, or let it sit in room temperature for 30 minutes.

      Knead and sprinkle the work surface again with cornstarch to incorporate the coloring.

      Roll the fondant out in the shape of the cake. To figure out the dimensions you will need, add the width of the surface, plus the length of the combined sides, plus two extra inches. For example, a 9-inch cake with 4-inch sides, plus 2 extra inches, needs a 19-inch circle of fondant.

      Once the fondant is 1/8 inch thick, roll the fondant onto the rolling pin. Unroll the fondant onto the frosted cake going from one side to the other.

      Dust your hands with cornstarch and gently smooth out the fondant. If there are air bubbles under the surface, poke them with a thin wire or needle at a 45-degree angle, then smooth out the fondant again with your hands.

      Trim the sides of the cake with a sharp knife. Add a decorative edge to cover any imperfections in the fondant.

Tips &- Warnings

  • The cake covered with fondant cannot be refrigerated. The moisture in the fridge will ruin it. Two to three days is the longest the cake can sit out before it must be served.

  • Do not overheat the fondant. Kneading will soften the fondant in a few minutes.

Some of the popular creams include meringue-based buttercreams like Italian buttercream, which is cooked with a hot sugar syrup, and Swiss buttercream, in which egg whites and sugar are melded together in a water bath- French buttercreams, which contain egg yolks- and butter- or shortening-based buttercreams. You may prefer to work with one or the other, such as Italian buttercreams for wedding cakes or shortening-based buttercream for borders and flower decorations.

  1. Ruffled Cake

    • A ruffled buttercream cake is deceptively easy to do. You will need a #104 petal tip to make the ruffles, which are essentially folded-over ribbons of buttercream squeezed out from a pastry bag. The ruffles are repeated vertically to form ruffle columns all along the sides of a cake. You can also finish the cake with flatter ruffles on the topmost ridge of the cake, forming a frilly border.

    Cornelli Lace and Sotas

    • Cornelli lace requires a thin consistency buttercream to act in the way that royal icing does, which is generally used for more precise work like lettering and forming strings. A thin buttercream and a #1 tip allow you to pipe thin squiggly lines that do not cross, touch or overlap each other and have the look of lace from far away. The key is to form continuous squiggles without loose ends- the pastry bag should be at a 90 degree angle and you should neither scrape the cake nor flatten the icing. The same thin buttercream will help you form sotas, similar to Cornelli lace except that the lines are closely interwoven to form a kind of blanket of spaghetti, strand-like loops. Less pressure on the pastry bag will help create the meshwork of thin loops.

    Fleur de Lis

    • Making a fleur de lis pattern using buttercream may seem daunting, but it is essentially a matter of joining several piped shells together at their ends. Using medium consistency buttercream and a #21 tip, you will be working at a 45 degree angle a short distance from the surface. The first shell establishes the fleur and tapers at the end- a reverse shell, also created at a 45 degree angle, flares to the left as one of the petals of the fleur de lis, joining the tail of the first shell. A mirror image of the petal on the right finishes the pattern.

    Star Fill-ins

    • A technique that makes a cake look textured and complicated is the star fill-in, which uses a star tip to create clusters of stars with close serrated edges. The buttercream needs to be medium consistency, filled halfway inside a piping bag. You will use a #16 tip that is poised 1/4 inch from the surface to be piped. Exerting pressure, you will create a star, after which you will immediately release pressure and lift away. After creating a row of stars, adjust the tip so that the next set of stars interlock with the previous set, without spaces. It is important to release pressure before you lift the tip away. Also, vary the pressure to create different sized stars.

This is a 250 room home that is still fully furnished with original belongings of the Vanderbilt's! There is also a farm on the estate and flower gardens, a winery and much more! I personally have been there 4 times and have not seen it all yet!

You can make your party different by offering the guests some games they may not have seen before.

  1. Kiss the Pig

    • In this game, everyone sits in a circle and the bride starts things rolling by holding up an imaginary piglet, miming a kiss and saying, "I kiss this pig on the snout." She then "passes" the piglet to the guest on her left, who says, "I kiss this pig on the cheek" (or any body part), air kisses the piglet, and passes it on. This continues around the circle, with each guest kissing a different "body part," until the piglet has returned to the bride. Then the host announces that everyone must turn to the guest on their left and kiss them in the same place they kissed the piglet. This game works especially well at a couples shower.

    Samplers

    • This game is a little like "Mad Libs," but instead of filling in the blanks the guests will complete well-known phrases. Before the party, think of 10 common sayings such as "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"--but instead of listing the whole saying, just list the first half ("If you can't stand the heat, _______."). Make enough sheets for each guest to have a list, and pass them out with pencils. Announce that the bride and groom are going to have some modern samplers embroidered for their new home, so everyone will have five minutes to come up with newer proverbs.

    Name that Powder

    • Before the party, number 10 clear plastic zip-top bags. Put a few teaspoons of a white powdered substance in each bag and seal the bag. Choose things that are similar in appearance, such as scouring powder, flour, baking soda, corn starch, powdered sugar, cream of tartar, granulated sugar, salt, dry Plaster of Paris and face powder. Pass the bags around and have the guests make a list of what each numbered bag contains without opening the bags.

      Decide if you want to participate in Rhema as a traditional student attending classes on campus or take advantage of the correspondence classes available. Both programs are excellent ways to begin your ministry. It is possible to start out at Rhema Bible Training Center as a correspondence student and then become a traditional student at a later date.

      Make sure you meet all the requirements to attend the Rhema Bible Center. You must be at least 18 years old. You will have to provide a high school diploma or equivalent. Be sure to have your pastor and two other individuals you have known for at least a year fill out the reference forms provided in the application package.       Be prepared for three years of intense education and training, if you choose to be a traditional student. The first year helps you have a solid foundation for your future. You will study faith, healing, and evangelism. The second year is advanced Bible study. You can choose from several areas to study, such as Children's Ministry, Pastoral Care and Supportive Ministry. Although the third year is not required, it is recommended. This is when you will be able to take the classes that did not fit into your second year of specialized study. You will be able to choose from courses that include Preaching With Relevance, The Traveling Ministry and Legal and Business Issues in Ministry.

      Participation in the Rhema Bible Church is required, if you want to be licensed and ordained through the Rhema Ministerial Association. The licensing and ordination is done through the local church, not the Rhema Bible Training Center.       Lewes is home to Delaware's only winery, Nassau Valley Vineyards. The vineyard's various venues can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 400 guests. As of 2011, Claret Hall can be rented for $2,500. At 3,600 square feet, Claret Hall was built to mimic Williamsburg's Claret's Grove Plantation, built in 1750 and known for its brick arches, according to the Nassau Valley Vineyards website. It can fit up to 250 guests. The Gallery One facility has a glass viewing area, which lets guests look down into a wine cellar, and an art arena. The Bacchus Grove is available for $1,000 and is ideal for spring and summer as it has an outdoor canopy area that overlooks the vineyard. For those who want an outdoorsy feel, there is the Side Lawn, available for $600, which can handle up to 150 people. The wines at the vineyard itself have won a multitude of awards, from the Indy International Wine Competition and from the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition.

    Long Neck

    • Baywood Greens offers an environment for golf, dining, large banquets and, of course, weddings. Any couple nearing the altar will be guided by Baywood's Director of Events. Weddings are held at the Clubhouse, surrounded by luscious gardens, and sporting a view of an 18-hole golf course. The banquet area has a 378 square foot dance floor with two balconies peeking over a garden space. Couples can cherry-pick from Diamond, Platinum and Gold menus, and are guaranteed ivory or white table linens and a team of florists to create the perfect look.
