It's interesting:
"Since meeting Linda, I've seen terrific changes in Paul. He seems much more confident these days. He's surer of what he wants. He's happier, and he's much more willing to bend these days, too. Although he’s still adamant that Arsenal will win the next seasons Champions League."

For a night out on the town, Cincinnati has a host of bars and restaurants serving up steaks, martinis, local beer, barbecue and Cincinnati-style chili. Restaurants range from quick fast-food spots to high-end steakhouses. And the city's bars include cozy taverns, upscale sports bars and dance clubs with live music.

How to save money on fresh flowers for your wedding

save money on fresh flowers for your wedding

It's interesting:
"Linda’s been the driving factor when it came to planning this wedding, and Linda, it was perfect! All your hard work paid off, and I must say I’m honoured to be part of the only 5 minutes that you didn’t get to plan!"

Wedding Flowers can easily take a 20-30% chunk out of your budget if you go the traditional route of using a florist. However, by ordering your flowers through a reputable wholesale florist, you can slash costs by well over half. Easily one to two thousand dollars in savings for a 100-guest wedding. You can use the wholesale flowers for all, or just some of your wedding floral needs, and still save significant amounts of money.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet Access
  • An upcoming Wedding or other event in need of flowers

Instructions

    • 1

Develop a general idea of what types of flowers you'd like to include in your ceremony and reception. At a minimum, have a plan for what colors will work best with your overall wedding style. Searching through bridal magazines is an easy way to get ideas and see examples of what flowers work well with each other.

    • 2

Research the flowers you're interested in at online wholesale florist sites. The following merchants are the best-reviewed sites.

      1. 2G Roses (www.freshroses.com). Located in California, 2G Roses offers a wide variety of high-quality flowers you can order by the bunch.

      2. Sam's Club Floral (http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?catg=1539). Sam's Club gives you the option to order from their standard distributor or from fair trade growers. They have a decent selection of the common wedding favorites, but the bulk orders are quite large, so they might be best for your main flower(s).

      3. Costco Wedding (http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePage.aspx?ProductNo=11273973). Costco offers both bulk flowers like Sam's Club and wedding packages as well--which include bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. These packages are a great deal, but only come in pre-determined numbers, like for a bridal party of 6 or 10, and you can't adjust the amount of flowers.

    • 3

Each site will inform you of what fresh flowers are in season on your wedding date. Since you're buying directly from the growers on all of the above sites, the flowers are generally cut the day before shipping, and are delivered via Fed-Ex overnight.

    • 4

Decide what vases or containers you'd like to use for the centerpiece and decoration arrangements. One good option is to borrow vases from the venue where you're having the ceremony or reception. They often already have containers for just this purpose. Alternatively, you can ask friends or relatives to bring containers they have around the house. You can also go to the local crafting store and buy some simple containers.

    • 5

Order a sample order a few months before your wedding from the wholesaler so you can try out your hand at arranging and assess the colors of what you've decided on.

    • 6

Order your actual wedding flowers at least a couple months in advance to ensure you've reserved what you need from the grower. Plan on having the flowers delivered at least 2 days prior to the wedding. This will allow enough time for both arranging and transport, and for the flowers to open fully before your big day! Make sure someone is available to accept the flowers from the delivery guy or gal. They will need to be unpacked and placed in water immediately.

    • 7

Ask someone to help you with the arranging--moms, sisters, and bridesmaids are perfect for this! Experiment with different arrangements and combinations. Reference bridal magazines and online sites for the best way to place the fresh flowers in containers.

    • 8

If you're extra-creative, making your own bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages is also a great way to save money. 2G Roses has a great section on their website describing make them with bulk flowers. This is a huge undertaking, though, and should definitely be practiced in advance if that's the route you want to go.

    • 9

Keep your arrangements in a cool, non-drafty, and generally undisturbed place until the wedding. Transport them to the venue the night before or morning of your big day.

Tips &- Warnings

  • Ask your friends or family members if anyone has experience arranging flowers. They could be a valuable resource for helping out when the flowers are delivered.

  • I personally used Sam's Club and 2G Roses (FreshRoses.com) for my wedding flowers and they turned out amazing! I ordered my roses (the bulk of my arrangements) from Sam's and the rest of my flowers from 2G Roses. Both greatly exceeded my expectations.

  • Once you've decided which flowers you're going to bulk-order, talk to a local florist to see if they can match your bouquets, corsages, and boutainniers to match your arrangements.

  • There are great reviews and feedback from brides listed on the 2G Roses and Sam's Club sites.

  • Be reasonable about how much of a task you're ready for. I personally used the wholesale flowers for centerpieces and decorations for the ceremony only, and used a local florist for the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages at my wedding.

Ideas for romantic nonfloral wedding centerpieces

Ideas for romantic non-floral wedding centerpieces

It's interesting:
"Sorry if the speeches drag on. Wedding receptions can be a bit like an X Factor results show. You just want to skip through the talky bits to find out ..."

Floral centerpieces can take up a considerable portion of your wedding budget, and even if you make floral centerpieces yourself, there's no guarantee that the flowers you want will be in season. Non-floral centerpieces are a suitable option for couples who want to offer a romantic ambience at the tables without spending a fortune on flowers. To keep the look of the tables romantic, think about what types of non-floral, romantic elements to incorporate.

  1. Cluster of Candles

    • A romantic idea for table centerpieces is to create a cluster of candles, using a variety of taper candles, pillars and tea lights. Place the candles in the center of the tables, designed in random order according to size. Beneath the candles you can place a flat mirror. Putting a mirror underneath candles gives the table more of a glow because the flames will reflect in the mirror. You can also create a cluster of floating candles. Fill large, shallow bowls with water and let tea light candles float inside of floating candle holders.

    Picture Frames

    • For a vintage, romantic tone, use picture frames as your table centerpieces. The picture frames can display pictures of the bride and groom, or they can frame other peoples' wedding photos and be placed at the corresponding tables. For instance, if the parents and grandparents of the bride are seated at one table, frame their original wedding photos and put those frames on their table. You can use one large picture frame, or create a tier effect with large-, medium- and small-sized picture frames. Scatter tea light candles around the frames to illuminate the pictures.

    Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

    • Centerpieces don't have to just be pretty to look at. Rather, you can create romantic and edible centerpieces that guests get to snack on at the end of the night. For a chocolate-covered-strawberry centerpiece, prepare a multi-tiered cake plate or cake stand. On each tier, line the rim with chocolate-covered strawberries. One idea is to make one tier filled with dark chocolate-covered strawberries, with the next tier up filled with white chocolate-covered strawberries. Altering the colors adds diversity to each tier. And you don't have to stick to just strawberries, although chocolate-covered strawberries are affiliated with romance. Chocolate-covered cherries and marshmallows can be effective, too.

    Environmental Materials

    • You can create romantic non-floral centerpieces by using the materials of your wedding environment. For instance, if you are having your wedding in the woods or country, you can create a centerpiece by placing long tree branches or dried grass into tall glass vases. For a wedding by the ocean, place large conch shells in the center of the table, and drape white tulle around them for an elegant look that resembles the movement of water.

East indian wedding traditions

East indian wedding traditions

It's interesting:
"'It was two days before the wedding and I finally sat down to write my toast. Low and ... Everyone at the wedding said it was the best toast they had ever heard.' ..."

East Indian wedding traditions mainly include the marriage customs of West Bengal, Assam, Orissa and other Northeastern states of India. Hindus believe there are four stages in life, of which married life or "Grahastha Ashram" is the second. It is considered a very important institution---the stage wherein the actual values of life are taught. Hindu weddings are rich in symbolic rituals and, despite India's diversities in culture, language and lifestyle, Hindu weddings across the nation share some common threads.

  1. Borjatri: Groom's Procession

    • The wedding ceremony starts with the groom's procession to the entrance of the bride's house, where the bride's elderly female relative blesses him by touching the "Baran Dala" to his forehead and then to the ground. Then, he is served sweets and sherbet, as rose water is sprinkled on him while he enters the house.

    Shubho Drishti: Marriage Ritual

    • The actual ceremony starts during the "Shubho Drishti" ritual, when the bride and groom first look at each other and exchange garlands called the "Mala Badal," amid chants and mantras. It is followed by the "Saat Paak" ritual, where the bride sits on a low wooden stool, which is lifted on her brothers' shoulders and carried seven times around the groom, signifying their eternal union.

    Sampradan: Transfer of Responsibility

    • During "Sampradan," the bride's father or elderly uncle transfers his daughter's or niece's responsibility to the groom. Then, they move around a fire, exchanging marital vows in the "Saptapadi" ritual.

    Basar Ghar: Bride's Family Welcome

    • The bride's family then welcomes the newlyweds with a sumptuous dinner called the "Basar Ghar" ceremony. The following morning, the groom applies vermilion on his wife's forehead in what is called the "Bashi Biye" ritual and they then visit the "Mandap" to worship the Sun God. Then follows the "Bidaai," where the bride's family finally bids her farewell.

    Bou Baran: Groom's Family Welcome

    • The groom's family performs the "Bou Baran" ritual to welcome to the newlyweds into their home. The bride soaks her feet in Alta and milk and leaves her imprints on the floor as she enters the house. All the members of the family give her their blessings. Then, it's her turn to serve them in the "Bou Bhat" ceremony, where she also eats her first meal in her husband's house. In the evening, the groom's family hosts a reception party.

How to submit to the new yorker magazine

submit to the new yorker magazine

It's interesting:
"I know it's Catherine and Stuart's wedding day, but all week I've only been thinking about what might have been … We were this close to a British ..."

Since the 1920s, the magazine of Howard Ross has been a weekly treasure trove of short fiction, photographs, reviews, spot illustrations, cartoons, and news items about New York City and beyond. Haruki Murakami, Alice Munro, John Updike, Raymond Carver, and Salman Rushdie are among the luminaries whose work has appeared repeatedly in "-The New Yorker."- Unknown and unrepresented writers will have a hard time breaking into this market, but following a few guidelines will help submissions get into the right hands.

Instructions

    • 1

Familiarize yourself with the writing style preferred by editors of "-The New Yorker."- Read several back issues to get a notion of predominant themes, ideal length and the typical voice. Review enough of the archives to ensure you are not pitching a piece on a topic that has already been published. If there are similar pieces, consider the special angle your piece has to offer.

    • 2

Play the odds. Certain types of material have a greater chance of being accepted in "-The New Yorker"- than others. For example, the magazine typically publishes only one short story per issue (except for the all-fiction issues), whereas it publishes several cartoons in every issue. Robert Mankoff, "-The New Yorker"- cartoon editor, wrote the book "-The Naked Cartoonist"- to describe the types of cartoons that get accepted into the magazine.

    • 3

Review the stated submission guidelines. There are certain pieces "-The New Yorker"- editors do not accept, such as unsolicited nonfiction (unless it is a front of book piece for "-Talk of the Town"-). Submissions should be sent to the appropriate department. For fiction, the email is fiction@newyorker.com. For Talk of the Town, it'-s talkofthetown@newyorker.com. For Shouts & Murmurs, it'-s shouts@newyorker.com. For poetry, it'-s poetry@newyorker.com. For news breaks, it'-s newsbreaks@newyorker.com. You can also submit via snail mail to the appropriate department at The New Yorker, 4 Times Square, New York, NY, 10036.

    • 4

Pose your query to the correct editor. Check the most recent issue'-s masthead for a list of each editor'-s name. Do not target the submission to the editor-in-chief, a typical error for a newbie. Telephone pitches from unrepresented writers are not accepted. The typical wait time to hear a response to a submission is three months. Rejected queries do not typically receive a response. After three months, feel free to pitch the piece elsewhere.

    • 5

Have a back-up plan. The latest copy of "-Writer'-s Market"- will have a list of magazines that accept pieces similar to those seen in "-The New Yorker."- Consider "-The Atlantic Monthly,"- "-Harper'-s Magazine,"- "-Vanity Fair,"- "-The Sun Magazine,"- "-Granta,"- and "-The Paris Review."-

Tips &- Warnings

  • Do not send attachments except for poetry and news break submissions. Send the piece in the body of an email.

  • Do not send more than two submissions per year, except for Shouts & Murmurs and The Talk of the Town.

  • "-The New Yorker"- does not permit simultaneous submissions.

  • "-The New Yorker"- does not consider pieces that have been previously published elsewhere.

How to decorate in the marie antoinette style

decorate in the marie antoinette style

It's interesting:
"Learn connect what's happing in the news to the theme of weddings or marriage, the stereotypical characteristics of a groom, the duties of a best man, ..."

The Marie Antoinette style is not for minimalists or for those with simple tastes. A love of luxurious designs and fabrics is a must and requires surrounding yourself with a mix of ornate and antique pieces. Known for her panache and avant garde style, Marie Antoinette was an extravagant spender, but it doesn't mean you need to be to decorate in a style that reflects hers.

Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Patterned decor
  • French-style chandelier
  • Antique (or reproduction) Louis XVI style furniture
  • Extra-large drapes
  • Pastel-colored decor
  • Harp
  • French porcelain tea set

Instructions

    • 1

Decorate with elaborate patterns. For those who want an attention-grabbing view upon entering the room, use wallpaper that has a large opulent design. Another option is to use area rugs that have a Damask pattern. Off-white couches with a bold flowered pattern would also fit well with the style.

    • 2

Hang a French-style chandelier. Look in thrift stores and antique shops and on online auction sites for a gold antique French-style chandelier. Considering it's an antique and may be composed of hard-to-replace parts, ask for a guarantee that it works and find out what type of bulbs it takes. Some cost quite a bit of money, but there are some that are relatively inexpensive.

    • 3

Use antique furniture in a Louis XVI style. This particular style consists of, among other things, ornate pieces that have straight lines as opposed to formerly popular curved designs. Many pieces have carved details, and gilding and tables were often topped with marble. For authentic pieces, contact a reputable furniture dealer that specializes in antique French-style furniture, especially that in a Louis XVI style. To save money, purchase reproduction furniture, which resembles authentic pieces and costs significantly less.

    • 4

Display dramatic textiles. One option is to use extra-large, flowing drapes in light colors. This style works best on very large vertical or horizontal windows. To choose an appropriate size and color, measure the length and width of each window and choose a shade that complements the other colors in the rest of the room.

    • 5

Use a pastel palette for the design. Pale shades of pink, green and blue add a romantic touch. Those colors can be combined with any light shade of brown, such as taupe or tan, and decorated with touches of gilding.

    • 6

Display Marie Antoinette inspired decorations. One option is to put out a harp, which was Marie Antoinette's favorite instrument- another is to display a French porcelain tea set. An original harp and tea set from 18th-century France will likely cost quite a bit of money, so consider purchasing budget-friendly reproductions.

Flowers that match teal best

Flowers that match teal best

It's interesting:
"Tom looks great on his wedding day doesn't he? I won't say it's funny to see ... Congratulations to Tom and Susan on their wedding. And since it's election week ..."

Teal is a color that goes by many labels. Turquoise, aquamarine, blue-green and teal can be the same color in lighter or darker shades. Finding fresh flowers in a teal hue can be challenging. One Heart Weddings website maintains that blue flowers are the most difficult monochromatic arrangements. Use shades of white and other complementary colors to coordinate with teal if you can't find teal flowers. Artificial flowers enable an exact color match.

Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Contrasting Colors

    • The use of ivory, white, black or orange can fill out teal flower arrangements. When used in wedding color schemes, black ribbons and lace can be a unifying color that ties the teals in the wedding flowers to black tuxedos. White and ivory have many color variations.

One Heart Weddings suggests that creamier whites, such as sand and ivory, reduce the sometimes overpowering shades of brighter teals. Ivory and white flowers are readily available as roses, daisies, lilies and many other fresh flowers and match the color teal well. Orange shades are contrasting colors for teal on the color wheel and can be used to make teal "pop".

    Teal

    • Teal flowers are in the blue range of the color wheel. Blue flowers range from pale white-blue to dark turquoise shades. One teal flower is the South American bromeliad, also called puya (Puya alpestris). Bromeliad flowers range from teal to dark turquoise.

The cape cowslip (Lachenalia viridiflora) is a member of the hyacinth flower family. This teal flower hails from South Africa and produces lush foliage in late summer and lovely teal blossoms in late fall. The sweet pea flower (Lathyrus odoratus) is a light turquoise colored flower. There are many flowers that are various shades of blue that look teal when they are close to each other- some of these flowers are: morning glory (Convolvulaceae family), tulips, hibiscus (Malvaceae family), phlox, hydrangea, delphinium (Ranunculaceae family), Indian tobacco (Lobelia) and flax (Linum usitatissimum). Matching teals with other teals exactly can be a bit tricky, so using different teal flowers together requires a unifying foundation color such as ivory or green.

    Complementary Colors

    • Colors such as silver, different shades of gray and varying shades of purple or green are complementary to the color teal. Foliage grows in many shades of green, including blue-green. Ivy and fern foliage creates a good foundation in a teal flower arrangement.

Use a color scheme chart or a color wheel to to find a color that you feel looks good with the shade of teal you are using in your arrangement or project. Consider using ribbons, vases, containers, bows, papers and foils in complementary colors around teal flowers.

    Artificial Flowers

    • Artificial flowers made of fabric can be dyed to match ensuring that the whole batch of flowers is the same shade of teal. It may be more affordable to purchase artificial teal flowers than trying to buy enough fresh teal flowers to provide for a full wedding party or a large flower arrangement.

Artificial flowers are available in many colors, so it is possible to buy the same flower in teal, ivory and orange, if desired. Artificial flowers are made of paper, fiber fabrics such as felts, and plastics. Fabric flowers dipped in latex create a life-like appearance.

Wedding prayers of the faithful

Wedding prayers of the faithful

It's interesting:
"What about the bride then, ladies and gentlemen? How wonderful she looks today. And Paul has scrubbed up quite nicely too – it’s amazing what a flannel and a bar of soap can do. But it’s a bit rude of him to have copied my outfit eh!"

The Prayers of the Faithful, also known as General Intercessions, is a prayer offered by a Catholic congregation at a Mass to ask together as a community for specific help and guidance by God. Typically, one person will read the prayer, such as, "May the homeless and the lonely find comfort," and the congregation responds with "Lord hear our prayer." Usually several prayers are offered, all with the same response by the group. For a Catholic marriage ceremony, you can customize the prayers offered to be fitting of the occasion and the couple.

  1. Engaged Couples

    • Offer a prayer for all the engaged couples in the world. Ask God to help them to witness the loving marriages around them as inspiration for their own marriage. You could also ask that they be guided together to form a happy and joyous marital union. As the couple being wed is not yet married, this would still apply to them, and can be offered up as well wishes for the bridal couple.

    Married Couples

    • Ask that God honor and protects the sanctity of marriage and the continued years of joy and happiness for married couples. The prayer can be offered for all the married couples of the world, or you can offer it for the married couples in your presence at the Mass. This prayer will help instill the couple with the deep respect and value held in the Catholic church for couples entering fully and seriously into the bond of marriage.

    Deceased Loved Ones

    • Offer a prayer for the family and friends of the bridal couple who have passed away. This is a way to incorporate loved ones who could not be there on the wedding day into the wedding ceremony and festivities. It ensures that although loved ones have passed away, they are not forgotten, and still have a place on the big day. Ask God that they may rest in peace in heaven.

    The Newlyweds

    • Offer a prayer for the bridal couple themselves. Ask God that the two individuals exchanging vows today always find strength and comfort in him to help lead their marriage through many years of marital bliss. Ask that those gathered at the Mass to bear witness to the vows always be there to support and help the couple through the many years of their married life.

Proper catholic wedding program

Proper catholic wedding program

It's interesting:
"I'd like to talk about Paul's greatest achievement, which happened today, and that was keeping his suit jacket on throughout the ceremony and resisting what must have been an intense desire to turn up in shorts today. But despite the heat and discomfort, it’s been well worth the effort, for amongst other things, the wet patch down the length of his left leg can be passed off as sweat."

For Catholic weddings, the wedding program serves as a guide to wedding guests, particularly those unfamiliar with a Catholic Mass. A well laid-out program should encourage full participation in the Mass from all guests by providing a clear outline of the order of the ceremony. Although the Catholic Church does not have a standard wedding program format, most programs give a basic overview of the ceremony along with a listing of wedding party members and others closely involved in the wedding.

  1. Ceremony Format

    • Before creating a wedding program, you should meet with a priest or deacon to select an appropriate ceremonial format for the wedding. In the Catholic Church the format of the ceremony varies depending upon whether the Rite of Marriage is performed within a Mass and what the religious background is of the non-Catholic partner in interfaith marriages. If the Rite of Marriage is performed within a Mass, the ceremony can last more than an hour. A detailed program would be particularly useful for these ceremonies.

    Order of Service

    • Based on the ceremony format selected, work with your priest or deacon to determine the order of the service, including the hymns and readings to be included. Proper Catholic terminology should be used, and the titles of hymns and readings should be listed within the program. Depending on your preference, the lyrics to hymns and the full text of the readings can be included in the program, but it is not necessary if they can be found in the parish's hymnal. If you choose to reprint materials found in a hymnal, copyright permission must be obtained.

    Rituals & Traditions

    • Rituals and traditions are important parts of the wedding that involve not just the bride and groom, but also the guests. Traditions that may seem natural to practicing Catholics, such as the Sign of Peace and the Eucharist, will not be as obvious to those unfamiliar with Catholic traditions. The rituals of the Mass should be included in the program so guests may know what to expect. Some rituals may require a brief explanation or note. For example, because only baptized Catholics can take Holy Communion in the Catholic Church, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops offers a statement about the Church's position on Holy Communion that it includes in worship aids. The priest may explain uniquely Catholic traditions, but the program provides a secondary source to which guests can refer.

    Additional Elements

    • Although the main purpose of the program should be aiding guests in understanding the ceremony, other elements can be included. Background about the couple, recognition of the wedding party and immediate family, and information about the reception are just a few options of what may be a part of a program. Nevertheless, all elements of the program should enhance the ceremony without detracting from the sacred nature of the Rite of Marriage.

Poetry copyright laws

Poetry copyright laws

It's interesting:
"I would like to say that I have a lot of admiration for Linda. She met Paul during his ‘colt’ years, and has dealt with most of his flaws. She’s a beautiful lady, and an even more gorgeous bride. I hope Paul realizes just how lucky he is. But I still don’t know how he got her to say yes because all she seems to say now is “No! Paul, no!”"

Poetry is protected by copyright laws that cover various forms of literary works. According to the U.S. Copyright Office, individual poems may be copyrighted, or a collection of poems may be copyrighted as a single work. Copyright protections are the same whether the author registers multiple poems individually or as a collected work.

  1. Creating a Copyrighted Poem

    • When a poem is written, a copyright is created for it, and the author may include a copyright mark ("c" in a circle) with the poem. The same is true for a collection of poetry: the author may use a copyright mark to govern the entire collection. However, it is difficult to defend a copyright without first registering the poem or collection with the U. S. Copyright Office.

    Length, or Term, of Copyright

    • In the case of an individual copyright owner, the copyright is in effect for 70 years past the author's death. If a poem or collection of poems was commissioned by an individual or organization (such as a publishing company), the copyright is in effect for 95 years after the work was first published or 120 years after it was first created, whichever comes first.

    Registering a Copyright Online

    • To register a copyright for a poem or collection of poems online, go to the electronic Copyright Office (eCO) section of copyright.gov, pay the appropriate fee and upload the poem or collection of poems in a standard document format, such as pdf, doc or txt.

    Registering a Copyright by Mail

    • To register a copyright for a poem or collection of poems by mail, fill out Form TX or replacement Form CO, include the appropriate fee and send two copies of the work to:

How to make parents part of the wedding ceremony

make parents part of the wedding ceremony

It's interesting:
"I think you'll all agree that it's been a wonderful wedding so far. ... But I never received a formal invitation to the wedding, so I just hope I haven't eaten a meal ..."

A wedding is a joyous occasion, but it can be bittersweet for the parents who are sending a child off to the next chapter. To soften the blow and thank parents for making them the people they have become, the bride and groom can incorporate the parents in the wedding ceremony. Speak with the officiant about modifying the wedding ceremony to include these very special people.

Instructions

    • 1

Have both the mother and the father of the bride escort her down the aisle. Traditionally, the father escorts his daughter, but many brides choose to share this moment with both parents. The mother should process to the right of the bride and the father to the left.

    • 2

Modify the processional to have the groom's parents escort him down the aisle as well. Traditional Jewish wedding ceremonies have the groom and his parents participate in the processional. In many Christian and secular ceremonies, the groom and groomsmen enter the sanctuary before the bridesmaids process. Either way, the groom and his parents can enter down the aisle to mark the start of the ceremony. The mother should process to the right of the groom and the father to the right. Alternatively, the groom can escort his mother to her seat with the father following behind.

    • 3

Incorporate a unity candle ceremony. This tradition has each set of parents light a candle to give to their child. The bride and groom then use their family candles to light one single candle, a symbol of their lives coming together and the union of their families.

    • 4

Include a unity sand ceremony. This modification of the unity candle ceremony is often performed at beach weddings, but can be done anywhere. Each family gives their child a vile of sand, which they pour simultaneously into one large unity vase. The symbolism mirrors that of the unity candle ceremony, and the bride and groom have a keepsake to remember this meaningful part of the ceremony.

    • 5

Have the officiant read a special prayer honoring the bride's and groom's parents during the introduction or opening collect.

    • 6

Ask the parents to read from the Scripture, a poem or special message during the ceremony. Scripture readings for weddings can be personalized, and some ministers may allow the addition of another type of reading. These are wonderful ways for the parents to borrow from literature or express their own messages as their children unite in marriage.

Tips &- Warnings

  • If stepparents are involved, consult everyone on their roles during the ceremony to avoid hurt feelings. The bride or groom may want the spotlight on just their biological parents, or they may want to incorporate stepparents into the ceremony. Either way, be sure everyone is comfortable with their roles.

Plans for a garden arch

Plans for a garden arch

It's interesting:
"I think you'll all agree that it's been a wonderful wedding so far. ... But I never received a formal invitation to the wedding, so I just hope I haven't eaten a meal ..."

A garden arch is a decoration that combines hardscape and vertical gardening. Garden arches can help you transition from one part of your garden to another while at the same time creating a support for climbing plants. You can make a garden arch out of almost any material. For lightweight plants such as morning glories or clematis, a garden arch made of PVC makes a low-cost garden arch.

Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 4 pieces of rebar, 3-foot lengths
  • Mallet
  • 2 pieces PVC pipe, 3/4-inch, 24-foot
  • 3 panels of white vinyl lattice, 4-by-8 feet
  • White floral wire
  • Morning glory seed

Instructions

    • 1

Pound rebar stakes halfway into the ground in sets of two. Space each stake in the set, 4 feet apart. Space the stakes 4 feet apart. These will create the foundation of your arch.

    • 2

Slip one end of your PVC pipe over the upright pieces of rebar. Bend the rebar in a U shape, and slip the other end of the pipe over the other end of the rebar.

    • 3

Wire the shorter ends of the 4-by-8-foot lattice together, using floral wire to create a single piece of lattice that is 4 feet wide and 24 feet long.

    • 4

Place the lattice over the PVC pipe. Lash the edges of the lattice to the PVC pipe using floral wire.

    • 5

Plant morning glory vines around the base of the lattice. The vines will cover the lattice as they grow.

What are the precana wedding requirements for the roman catholic church

What are the pre-cana wedding requirements for the roman catholic church?

It's interesting:
"But fortunately Giles recovered from his stag do and made it to the wedding today … + Add to clipboard. 11-Feb-201It's been a great week for the groom."

Pre-Cana refers to the counseling and classes Catholics must go through to prepare for the sacrament of marriage. Pre-Cana requirements can vary from parish to parish, including their length, which can range from six weeks to six months. Throughout the process, couples will discuss an array of topics, from child rearing to principles of a Catholic marriage to finances.

  1. Initial Meeting/ Documents

    • In the initial meeting between the couple and the church's representative, the couple will need to provide several documents such as certificates of baptism and confirmation. If the documents are unavailable, the couple may be required to complete religious educational training classes. If the marriage is between a Catholic and a non-Catholic, the Catholic will be required to promise to remain a practicing Catholic. The couple will also have to baptize their children and raise them as Catholics.

    Questionnaires

    • Some parishes have couples complete questionnaires that are intended to stimulate discussion on myriad aspects of married life as a Catholic. One parish calls its questionnaire "FOCCUS" -- Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study. About a week after completing the questionnaire, the couple will meet with their priest to discuss the results. Sometimes more than one meeting is required. The questionnaire and meetings are designed to prepare the couple for the remainder of the Pre-Cana process.

    Pre-marriage Counseling/Workshops

    • Pre-marriage counseling will vary from parish to parish, but the core of the process consists of Pre-Cana classes. The classes are often run like workshops, sometimes conducted by other Catholic couples. Topics run from natural birth control methods to the place of Jesus Christ within the marriage. Depending on the parish, workshops can range from daylong classes (usually on a Saturday) to evening classes on one particular night for several weeks, or a weekend getaway.

    Ceremony Planning

    • The couple will be required to discuss the details of the wedding ceremony with the priest at least 30 days before the actual date. Many parishes provide a handbook that contains wedding rite options. The couple should be able to discuss which scripture readings they'll use as well as the form of the vows. The priest may also want to discuss other ancillary things related to the ceremony such as music and flowers. At this point, the priest will also lay out any traditions that are no longer permitted by his particular parish, such as the throwing of rice or birdseed, or the use of butterflies or soap bubbles.

Fairytale wedding decor

Fairy-tale wedding decor

It's interesting:
"Normally, an outdoor spring wedding is a risk. Will there be snow? Will it be cold? Will it be hot? Will it rain? Thankfully, today the risk paid off with no precipitation, perfect weather, and a beautiful backdrop to see the union of Paul and Linda."

If you want your wedding to be made of the stuff of legends, a fairy-tale theme may be just the romantic, magical approach to decorations perfect for a storybook love. Honor your knight in shining armor, and make yourself princess for a day. Use a pink-and-white Sleeping Beauty theme, or a midnight blue and silver Cinderella theme. Whether you set your reception in a medieval feasting hall or fields and forests, your goal is to create romance, magic and tradition for your wedding.

  1. The Hall

    • You may want to choose your reception hall with an eye to your theme: Look for chandeliers, a dance floor and decorative touches like curtained windows and ornate moldings. Hang small metal lanterns painted white or in your wedding colors, and be sure to string up white fairy lights, garlands of ivy and silk roses. Create a medieval atmosphere with banners, tapestries, shields and thrones, or turn the room into an enchanted forest. Use green balloons and streamers, making the ceiling into forest-roof arches- place potted trees around the tables- and decorate with tons of artificial flowers. A key element to fairy-tale weddings is drapery. Drape the walls with fabric suiting your theme: silver, velvet or tapestry, pink, sheer green, or black for a nighttime feel. Drape the tables with lush tablecloths and coordinating swags in gold, brocade or tulle.

    The Tables

    • Pay attention to your centerpieces and table decorations. If you want low-key, sprinkle star, moon or castle confetti on the tables, and set out jeweled crystal-look votive or tea-light holders. If you want big and bold, use large sandcastle or coach-and-horses centerpieces set with candles. You may even want to use topiary centerpieces with artificial birds or real oranges. You also can do a medieval table setting with goblets, scrolled silver or gold candle holders and massive candelabras. Try matching fabric designs in an ornate pattern, such as on your ring pillow or guest book. For place-card holders, crowns, tiaras, castles, butterflies, roses, swans, lilies or goblets all could fit your theme. You'll want your place settings to be elegant and to fit your theme: For a medieval wedding, use gold chargers under the plates- for a fairy-tale forest, have the plates garlanded in greenery. For a Cinderella theme, set the tables with accents of rhinestones and satin.

    Accents

    • You can extend the fairy-tale theme to your wedding favors, cake set and invitations. Use a cake topper shaped like a castle or tiara, and set the tables with favors like castle or slipper-shaped candles or key rings, tiny flower baskets, Cinderella coaches or knights astride their warhorses. You could even have the invitations delivered in rolled tubes, like medieval scrolls. Look for dramatic, elegant touches: Make the guest book into a "storybook" with an illustration of the happy couple as the cover, or order a swan ice sculpture for the punch table. Or get a magical effect with little cost by using paper-bag luminaries with star or heart cutouts to line the reception hall.

Planning a cinderella wedding

Planning a cinderella wedding

It's interesting:
"In researching this speech, I’ve tried to find some dirt on Linda, but neither her brother nor her best friends could give me anything. As I'm sure you noticed it wasn’t a problem that I had with Paul. Linda is well liked by everyone, and I have never met anyone who has had anything but good things to say about her – which is wonderful for Paul, but a bit inconvenient for me at this precise moment. It means that I have to continue to shower her with platitudes. But seriously, Linda, you have had a huge positive impact on Paul, and we now speak of Paul ‘BL’ and ‘WL’ - ‘before Linda’ and ‘with Linda’."

Some brides have dreamed of having a fairy-tale wedding since they were little girls, and Cinderella has always been the most publicized princess. Brides may choose from Disney's version, Rogers and Hammerstein's musical rendition or updated movie versions of the beloved princess as they buy their gown and decorations, and select their music choices.

  1. Wedding Apparel

    • It's your day to shine, so select a gown that makes you feel like a princess, be it a formal princess gown from Mary's Bridal or a Disney princess-inspired dress by designer Kirstie Kelly of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. If you do not like an exact princess gown, try to select a gown with a long train and a full skirt. Supplement the look with a jeweled tiara and a floor-length veil. Add elbow-length gloves and pearls around your neck for a classic look. Remember, Cinderella wears glass slippers, so try to find delicate sandals or glass shoes to wear for part of the day. To complete the princess look, wear your hair partially up in French twist, with curls piled on top of your head.

Bridesmaids should also wear floor-length gowns to match the formality of the event. Dress them in either colors of royalty such as rich purples and reds, or pale pinks and blues like Disney's princesses.

For a fair-tale look, grooms may consider wearing a white tux instead of a black one. He can keep it fairly simple, though if you want a more formal affair he can don a top hat and a cane.

    Invitations and the Ceremony

    • When selecting your invitations, decide whether you want one of the Walt Disney Cinderella invitations, or an elegant castle invitation that symbolizes your happily ever after. Several invitation companies cater to both kinds, including Invitations by Dawn and the Party Block, which features an extensive Disney wedding invitation line.

If you can use secular music throughout the ceremony, then make your entrance to Prokofiev's "Cinderella Waltz." During musical interludes, play the instrumental versions of Disney's Cinderella's "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "So This Is Love," from Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. You and your groom may walk down the aisle together to Rogers and Hammerstein's "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful," from their musical version.

Couples should ride from the ceremony to the reception in a horse and carriage versus a traditional limo.

    The Reception

    • Hold the event at a grand ballroom or a private castle if you can. Use twinkle lights to accent the room and decorate the tables with fine white tablecloths, accented in gold and silver. Instead of bells to ring for a kiss, consider gifting each guest with a magic wand to wave and tap their glass with for the happy couple to kiss. Order tall, elaborate centerpieces with white roses, peonies and greenery. If you are hosting a fall wedding, hollow out some pumpkins and light cream votives inside.

This royal event demands the best cuisine, so opt for the best by ordering the finest champagne and beginning the event with butler-passed appetizers of coconut shrimp and Oysters Rockefeller. Serve your guests the best cuts of prime rib, fettuccine alfredo and wild mushrooms and wine sauce. Make your cake the piece de resistance with a castle-themed confection.

Get your guests moving by having your disc jockey play a mixture of Disney classics and other romance favorites from movies such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Ever After," "The Princess Bride," "Enchanted" and "The Princess Diaries." Have him play classic dance music as well, but keep the romance music princess-inspired.

Wedding destination cards

Wedding destination cards

It's interesting:
"It was a stipulation for the wedding that the groomsmen weren't allowed to look better than the Best Man today and I'm pleased to say they have accomplished ..."

Couples get married all around the world every day, and some of those couples marry in exotic or far-off locations. This necessitates the use of wedding destination cards that help guests discover exactly where the wedding is located.

  1. Invitations

    • Wedding destination invitations use the destination itself as the focal point of the card, with the information on one side. For example, a Las Vegas wedding might use a picture of the famous Strip.

    Destination Cards

    • Destination cards work with more traditional wedding invitations by showing the time, date and other pertinent information. This card slides right inside the invitation.

    Generic Cards

    • Generic cards are popular with those marrying in an unfamiliar or less popular location. Those getting married on the beach, for example, might use cards that show a generic picture of the beach.

    Specific Destinations

    • Specific destination cards are available for areas like Mexico, Hawaii and Las Vegas. These cards use a specific picture of the location along with the information on the date.

    E-Vites

    • Brides who are more technologically advanced may prefer using an e-vite instead of a traditional invitation or destination card. The fun thing about these cards is that they can use any image they want in the invitation and then email them to their friends and family members.

    Fishing on Flushing Bay

    • Flushing has an urban setting, but that doesn't mean it's not a place to go fishing. It is perfectly possible to do so in Flushing Bay, although it's somewhat dominated by LaGuardia Airport. Try your luck on Flushing Bay Promenade, many anglers fish near the World's Fair Marina. The Bay is home to striped bass and blue claw crabs. Other fishermen favor the end of the promenade adjacent to the airport. There are few amenities in this part of Flushing, though a donut outlet is available for hungry anglers. Flushing Bay Promenade is also well used by cyclists, skaters and joggers and it's a good place to spot New York birdlife.

Cake table decoration ideas

Cake table decoration ideas

It's interesting:
"Linda’s been the driving factor when it came to planning this wedding, and Linda, it was perfect! All your hard work paid off, and I must say I’m honoured to be part of the only 5 minutes that you didn’t get to plan!"

The wedding cake is one of the showpieces of any wedding reception. Undoubtedly, a beautiful cake deserves a beautiful cake table. While you'll certainly want your cake table to match the rest of your reception decor, it is important to remember that the wedding cake itself should be the main focus. By keeping the table decorations simple and understated, you can create a gorgeous and effective display for your wedding cake.

  1. Cover the Table

    • A tablecloth is one of the easiest ways to instantly transform a boring table into an elegant one. A classic white tablecloth is the most popular choice, because it provides a neutral foundation on which to work. There are a number of ways you can add style and color to the table. For example, you might use a colored runner across the table, or use colored streamers or ribbons around the edge of the table. However, instead of white, you may choose a tablecloth in one of your wedding colors. If you are feeling extra chic, you might choose to use a patterned or lace tablecloth. Some popular tablecloth patterns include florals, stripes, and polka dots. While you will need to take extra care to ensure that your cake table does not become too busy, these styles can certainly look elegant and beautiful when used correctly.

    Scatter Small Items

    • Scattering small objects across the table is an easy and creative way to decorate the cake table. Some of the most common items to use include glitter, confetti, and flower petals. However, you have the opportunity to get quite creative here. Use items that symbolize your wedding or wedding cake in some way. For example, use orange and yellow leaves for an autumn wedding. If your wedding is in the winter, scatter fake snowflakes across the table. For a beach wedding, use small seashells. If your wedding has a country theme, you may even choose to scatter hay across the table. The most important thing to remember is not to distract from the wedding cake.

    Use a Special Object

    • Instead of scattering small objects across the table, you may choose to use just one special object to display with the cake on the table. Again, your creativity can flow freely here, and you should use something that symbolizes your wedding or relationship. You could display one of your engagement pictures in a beautiful frame. Or, frame a copy of your wedding invitation. If your have an elegant cake server and cutting knife, you can display those next to the wedding cake. If you had a poem recited during your ceremony, you may choose to put that poetry book on the cake table, opened to that particular poem. Some couples even choose to add a chocolate fountain or champagne fountain to the cake table- not only does this provide visual appeal, but also gives your guests something extra to enjoy.

How to word a wedding invitation using proper etiquette

word a wedding invitation using proper etiquette

It's interesting:
"I can’t imagine a happier way to start married life than in this wonderful venue with all their family and friends around them. Ok, so I can – but it would have to be an exceptionally big Jacuzzi."

Congratulations! You are getting married! There are so many things to consider and details to cover. Your wedding invitation is one of those important items. Marthastewartweddings.com explains that a standard or proper wedding invitation includes a host line, a request line, a bride and groom line, a date and time line, a location line, as well as reception and RSVP information.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin your invitation with the names of those hosting the event. As marthastewartweddings.com states, there are numerous options for who will be named and how. According to emilypost.com, all names and titles should be spelled out. This includes middle names and titles such as "Doctor."

    • 2

List the bride's married parents as hosts, name them as Mr. and Mrs. William Michael Smith. If they are married, but the mother uses a different last name, you will want to include both full names. The mother addressed by "Ms." with the word "and" connecting them: Ms. Amy Lynne Jones and Mr. William Michael Smith. If the groom's parents are co-hosting include their names in the same format under the bride's parents. In situations where parents are divorced, names are listed on separate lines, mother's name first, without the word "and" between them. If a parent has passed away, their name has traditionally not been included on the invite- however, in cases where it is deemed necessary or preferable, adding "the late" prior to the name will denote the situation.

    • 3

Designate co-hosts as the bride and groom with one or both sets of parents in this way: "Together with their families, Miss Lauren Jayne Paine and Mr. Mathew Jacob Murphy." If the bride and groom are hosting alone, the "together with their families" line can be removed.

    • 4

Indicate where the ceremony will take place. This line appears following the host line and will differ based on where the ceremony is being held. If the ceremony is being held in a place of worship write "request the honor of your presence". When the event is taking place anywhere else, the phrase "request the pleasure of your company" is standard.

    • 5

Announce the names of the bride and groom. As the bride and groom are the most important aspect of the event, their names are set apart, perhaps in a larger or different font. As long as the bride has the same last name as her parents -- and they are listed in the host line -- only her first and middle name should appear. The groom's full name, including his title will then appear connected to the brides with the word "to."

    • 6

Add the date and time to your invitation- spell the date out, including the year with no "and" capitalizing the day of the week and month. Using the phrase "half after" is recommended when appropriate to the time of the ceremony.

    • 7

Name the wedding's location. It is tradition to provide the full name of the establishment as well as the city and state for places of worship and other well known venues, making sure not to use state abbreviations or commas at the end of lines.

    • 8

Create the reception information line or card. When hosting a reception located at the same place as the ceremony, a single invitation can be used. However, when the events are being held at two separate venues a separate card, with similar grammar format -- date, time, location information -- should be inserted. If your event is unique in anyway -- e.g. black tie, casual attire, cocktails only -- you may want to provide your guests with this information on your reception card or on the lower right corner of the invitation if you are not including a separate card.

    • 9

Create the RSVP line or response card. A RSVP line should be placed in the lower left corner of the invitation stating, "The favor of a reply is requested." A separate fill-in-the-blank response card should be included. Although traditional etiquette doesn't call for the bride to provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the card, it has become very common -- and also a helpful way to expedite the process of receiving RSVPs.

Tips &- Warnings

  • A competent printer can provide quality paper products and help you compose a wedding invitation conforming to the guidelines of traditional etiquette.

  • Make sure to proofread your invitation multiple times prior to approving it for printing.

How to learn dance steps to dance to bluegrass

learn dance steps to dance to bluegrass

It's interesting:
"A wedding is a time for joy and fun, with friends and family gathered to see the happy couple off as they start their new life. But it is a time, too, when our ..."

Bluegrass music is infused with bango picking and folk rhythms. It&rsquo-s a sub-genre of country music that often features a fast tempo and lively beat. Also called mountain music, the &ldquo-bluegrass bands [of] today reflect influences from a variety of sources including traditional and fusion jazz, contemporary country music, Celtic music, rock & roll.&rdquo- Learning dance to bluegrass music can be an enriching and enjoyable experience even if you have no other previous dance training. With the right resources, you can be dancing away in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Practice at home. Clogging is a step dance that is traditionally used to dance to bluegrass music and is "derived from the dances the Scottish, English, Irish, and German immigrants did when they settled in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1700s." Relax and put on your favorite bluegrass song.

    • 2

Learn the basic steps. Start with your left foot and begin stepping in place to the downbeat. Relax and try not to stiffen up. If you look like you're marching, loosen up. Just step to the beat of the music.

    • 3

Add a kick to your step. Keep stepping on the down beat, but this time incorporate a kick to your step by letting your feet come out in front of you. Kick forward before you step. You are following a four-count rhythm: kick step kick step kick step kick step (and one and two and three and four).

    • 4

Kick forward with your left foot, and then step in place three times. Practice this step, and when you're comfortable with the movements, switch over to your right foot. These are the basic steps of clogging.

Tips &- Warnings

  • Bluegrass dancing is a light-hearted dance. You need to relax and let loose for this type of dance.

  • Invest in a pair of western boots. A boot's sole allows for gliding and the heel of the boot aids in keeping to the beat.

  • Attending a bluegrass festival will give you a chance to see live clogging. Bluegrass festivals give you an opportunity to learn more about bluegrass culture and music. Live bands and dancing groups often perform during festivals.
